She does look kind of French. Maybe she needs a beret?Ooolala! She looks like she walking the runway!
Those are great photos!Happy Friday everyone!
Had to stick a gloved hand in Brune's butt this morning. An exceptional soft shell egg from her that wouldn't come out.

Theo's tail and wings are back to their former glory! Just a few days and his mane should be coming in nicely.

I'm so glad to hear this. Wonderful.Success! Maybe homemade bread with whole grains in it made the difference? Soaked two small pieces, mushed them each a bit to compact them, and had them on a piece of plastic wrap along with the half calcium pill in front of Peanut in her towel burrito.
I had been giving them each some walnuts from a little plastic bag to lure them into the run and get Peanut alone. Suddenly she picked up the calcium pill herself, beaked it around and dropped it. What a disappointment that must have been! Sorry, Peanut. Then I picked up the bread and offered it and she scarfed both right down. Yummy! At least until
Getting the calcium pill into her was the trial today, she’d decided that’s not food and it took four attempts because it got a bit sticky. But afterward she got three more walnut bits very happily. I opened the burrito and swung around toward the lilac bush where everyone else was and she flew off, landed, paused to ruffle and ran toward them. So I think she’s okay. I’m okay too.
Thanks everyone here too for your support, it means a lot to me!
He was a looker. Was he an orpington? That's BEN, so many years ago!
Fill your syringe twice. There was a tiny bubble, so I drew slightly more, as I agree anywhere between .25 and .30 would be okay. Wasn't sure if I could tip it up and tap the bubble up, expel it and then dip it again in the bottle to get more, but I'm going to try that next time. I used to give our cat Calvin (RIP) insulin, but that dispensing method already started at the proper angle for bubbles.
Sydney was broody before she was 1 year old. Phyllis waited until the following year.Thank youOreo and Brownie are wonderful stable dependable kinda personalities and beautiful too! I foresee some babies from those two in the future
We shall see what happens next spring/summer if any go broody. I seem to remember Phyllis going broody quite soon after starting to lay so anything is possible!
I agree with this. It's hard to blame him when he found a food source all his own.I am laughing but also glad the piece of the behavior puzzle you did not have has been found. Also, its adorable that the missing piece was humans sharing space and love with chickens. I see your dilemma but at least its a good cause.
I wish you the best of luck.Me either, I am so excited but also tempered by BY Bobs experience as I think that almost all EE have the potential to lay brown but here is what I hope for with my Moss Eggers:

That's amazing. I did not know that.I cannot carry a tune either, and you will never catch me recording myself singing. But the horses really love music. They also react differently to different beats and songs. If I want them calm there are certain songs I can play and they will fall asleep. There are other songs I can play and have them all bobbing their heads to the beat of the music. When Rosie rides in the ring she sometimes brings down the stereo to play for Russ. If she wants Russ to hold his gait for several laps she'll blast "Rolling in the Deep" for him and he never misses a beat.
