Quite a few Americans on our little island. We are God's Secret Piece of Paradise, well hidden away. No~one even knows we're here ~ except for you lot! :lau
Well just about everything in Australia will kill you so that might tamp down on immigration a little.

Update on my flock: Jaffar is getting even better as of noon, and "rocket" graciously honored me with her presence just now. I gave her some meally worms, besides regular feed. She is loudly proclaiming with a broody "kuk, kuk, kuk" that she has a nest somewhere. Now I know she is safe, and even seems bigger now, than when she went broody last week. To me this is EGG-celent news! :wee:celebrate:yesss:
That is all great news. I am so glad to hear it. I am so glad things turned around for you.

I did follow her. And found out she's a genius! She found a safe area that I air condition in the heat of the day. Just below the subfloor of my kitchen thru a breech in the outside wall.:clap
Outstanding news! And now you can check on her. That's great.

Egg Laying Mania

It was a bakawking mess at Fluffy Butt Acres today. 3 times Lilly brought me out of house with a bakawking fit. 3 time I found nothing wrong. I was checking on Sydney on Broody Cam and i saw this.

Behind Sansa was this.

Lilly in the nesting box. Hmmmm.

She got up and left but there was no egg. 😔

Then I was counting hens and she was gone again. I found her here.

Well, was all the fussing and complaining worth it.

Yes it was!

It was a 5 egg day!

Best of all, I hope Lilly feels better now. Poor old lady. :love

I must remodel the perch situation tomorrow. Ben and BLU can perch in their usual places, but Jaffar cannot get back up to his spot, (He's still too weak) so tonight it's me, him, and Animal Planet re-runs again!
I'm sure he likes a little TV with his best friend.

Day 9: From Afar

Sydney did not roll out until 1:15 today. It was chilly. When she left the nest it was 74.3° F (23.5° C). It was the usual, poo, eat, drink, bathe, and preen. It's all becoming routine at this point. Work was crazy today so I could not sit with her but I did snap this shot of her preening from a distance.
