It would be 6 ish hrs in the car for me total but I think Ill probably end up driving vs shipping. The cost of shipping is likely to be nuts.

I.) I do plan on getting them out to range nearly everyday. Our property is bisected by a gully and stream. My coop is at the back of cleared land. So, I could safely supervise at least some free range time each day and maintain quarantine. I will consider how to make larger coop if problems arise so that I have a plan, the tent is 7x7. I will construct a roost for them and put in some old kids toys for them to play on. Thank you for the suggestion, its always best to be prepared as I found out with my pack n play brooder disaster.

2.) How did you divide the run? Just run a length of chicken wire? Interesting idea.
Well - 6hrs of driving... but you know what it's like when you go to pick them up - you will get chatting chickens.... time will pass - :)

At least that is what I imagine would happen with me!

I love the mirror idea! Do they peck at it? I am going to add a slide also, I have seen videos of chickens going down slides :)
They don't peck the mirror much. However, when it is clean ( :hmm ) they do seem to like looking at themselves and preening in front of it. It was a mirrored curio cabinet, so it came that way. I also think it gives more light to that space, since it is facing out, and though fairly high at the peak, adding that solid roof made it significantly darker under there ( not Dark, dark, but way darker than it was without the roof. Since it is below a 30+ foot high at the eaves barn roof that is metal, it HAD to be something solid & sturdy)

Speaking of slides...when (?if at this point?) I ever get my duck pond made, I was thinking of adding a slide for them into the water! Have no idea if they will like it...but there was a slide (like for a kiddie playset that had swing and slide and such) and a few other odd things left at the property when we bought it. I thought it would be fun to add that to a duck pond...at some point....:idunno

There’s another one in the trap now too. Mice attract each other I think.
I don’t like it when they disc the fields around here. Critters run for cover, and straight into my yard.
If I’m patient (or bored) enough, I can watch the rodents cross the highway and then into the yards. :old

Oh No what happened? Is her chick a 'filly'? I sure hope so to replace her.

So sorry to hear that she has passed :(

I'm working in Oklahoma and got Lety's message that she found Gorda dead this morning when she opened her coop. Not sure why but Gorda was sick constantly as a pullet. She was in our home several months. That's how we have a strong bond. Fortunately yesterday Lety had put some of her last eggs in the incubator. Cholo has lost 2 girls from his tribe recently, poor fella.
