Woohoo! I can’t wait to see!I Didn’t… sorry, maybe once I get the house settled a bit better I will have time to update. I asked if anyone was interested in following a more house build discussion and did start a conversation, just to keep it from snowballing too much, or me spamming Fluffy Butt Acres with all my house updates and such. I haven’t been making much progress since last fall, but the kind folks encouraging me there are basically keeping me going when I am pretty sure I’d have tossed in the towel on it. Winter wasn’t particularly roofing friendly… but I’m going to get it done in 2023!
That is a truly beautiful tree. I will keep my fingers crossed that somehow it doesn’t lose it’s blooms to frost.Oh No!
Those of you that have been here a year know how devastated I was when a late freeze wiped out my magnolia tree blossoms last March. Here is what our February weather has been like at times this year.

It is about to snow a little today, not freeze mind you so that's good.
I saw this on my walk Wednesday.

It is still FEBRUARY!!!!!
There is no way it does not freeze again. I'm going to lose them all again this year.
For reference, last year's tree.

That way she’ll be closer to her friends instead of on the floor by herself. I doubt she’ll make it through the night.
He snuggled in, even tucking his beak in to me and took a brief nap in my arms. I finally gave up on Lark coming on her own, tucked Cheetah up (he got a bit disgruntled),
Yes. I was amazed when I first got chickens at how much more emotive they were than I ever thought. And I have definitely seen some grieve & be depressed when their bestie passed. They are truly amazing creatures - these things we call chickens. I really think humans have done a disservice to many animals by discounting the strength of their relationships with each other.I do find it heart warming that they stand watch with each other. They really care for each other.
Aw, So sad that she is failing - but she had a good long life with you (given what we have done to chickens via breeding here, 6 is a good life!) Any chicken would love to have you as a chicken mum!. Lucky would be six at the end of March.
Just because you have to work full-time doesn't mean you aren't a farmer! It just means it doesn't support you, is all. I am so excited for you! And, yes, I think @BY Bob 's suggestion of your own thread documenting this journey would be WONDERFUL!We will still be working fully, so no, not farmers, but I will be starting a permaculture dream on my land.
She is so lucky to have spent her life with you. You are so thoughtful.
While I do not need a daily update on construction (I have plenty of my own to contend with in real life), I do so very much want to hear that you have a real roof over your head. Please don’t let another winter go by!
OMG I hope everyone is ok.I second that! @Kris5902
I'm sorry I didn't comment earlier a neighbours home caught fire from their fridge freezer. Thank god no one was hurt and our fire brigade was fast in getting us all out of danger. We were frantically worried a gas explosion could have started.
Burr thats cold for Cali.
