I marked the eggs I set under the girls. I had to as other hens are laying very close to them and they are stealing their eggs and tucking them under them. Goose already had 3 under her that I had to remove and she shrieked at me when I took them. I did give one back as it was Chiquita's. Gryffyn had 2 under her, she did not shriek, she bit, multiple times in protest. As evil as she was with me taking the eggs, when I gave her the 4 I wanted her to have she very gently tucked them under her. She has been ready for eggs for a few days already. This hen is going to give me fits now for the next 3 weeks. I'm so terrified she will get halfway through and eat them. This is going to be her 1 and only chance I am giving her to incubate. I am only risking it with her now because for the last month neither cochin has ate a egg and they have had plenty of chances. If the other girl Flurry goes broody she will get the same chance with 3 to 4 eggs after a few days of sitting. Fingers crossed she makes it all the way and the eggs develop. I am also secretly hoping for 2 blue chicks.

Pavers are down, but it’s so chilly and I am so sore that the panels can wait until tomorrow.

You kiddos better not dig up that limestone screening! Having the pavers down will keep the temp panels level, and clear of grass.

The panels will stop about 30” from the barn (where the pavers stop) and I will run another temporary panel across the front of the doorway to create a passage for the kiddos to get outside.

At the far end of this little passage I will put an access gate across from the panel attached to the barn.

I’m getting there! 🥰
The pavers look so nice!

Please let us Out

We will be good. We promise. View attachment 3454480

It's so nice out today. PLEASE!

What did we do Aurora? Why can't we go out and play like Hattie?
Careful might have a rebellion on your hands!

I feel like I should sing Jail House Rock to them 😊

Wait a minute now. Let's not wish my luck on anyone. That is just too mean. There are people I do not like and I would not wish my luck when it comes to hatching chicks on them. Most days that is....sometimes now.....I could feel a little mean.
My luck with foals was good, mostly fillies!

So stands to reason that it will be reversed with my chooks

I am thinking really good thoughts in that case!

And for all blue chicks for you ❤️
