Both of Gryffyns chicks have hatched. I did not get a blue Perdita sister darn it. I now have a hour to decide what to do with her. Mom thinks I should leave them in Louis's stall. I want to move them to the coop and block access to them. Louis knows there is chicks and so does Branch. Branch went up to Gryffyn and dropped his head down and was trying to talk to them. Gryffyn pecked him hard on the top of his head for his troubles. Louis has his butt pressed firmly against the stall entrance. I had to slap his butt hard to get him to move forward so I could get in and check her. Guess who is now spurred into broody action as of today? Chiquita, that's who. I caught her in the box with Goose and she had stolen one of Goose's eggs all angry. I removed her and shut the door and she has ran around all evening puffed up and broody clucking. Mom is mowing grass and saw it. She's declared if she wants to sit I'm to let her, but, she is to have 4 or 5 if she can cover them Marans eggs. Someone has finally saw some good in the silkies. Chiquita adopting and raising those Leghorns for mom has elevated her status in mom's eye. From now on, if Chiquita wants chicks, one way or another Chiquita gets chicks.
