You know the handbook "The Way Of The Chicken". In the section on incubating eggs it clearly states 21 days to hatch. My girls read it, tossed it over their backs and said "Hold my Beer." Day 19 does not officially start until 8pm tonight, about a hour and a half away. Momma hen had one internally pipped 3 hours ago. Holly, has one externally pipped.
Hey Rebecca
Check out Henny Penny with the Chicklets…

Wee one is still here, I gave her more sugar water which she did drink, she has been out pecking at the feed, I have been breaking the crumbles into smaller pieces. She is still very unsteady on her legs, but I have seen her even picking through the bedding for heaven knows what - spilled feed..? And she drank some regular water.

As always I will keep an eye on her.
Oh, Kelly. Dare I ask how this little one is doing? @Ponypoor

Feathers are starting to come in for Goose and Gryffyns chicks. Mazzie the suspected silkie will not be still to let me examine hers. As suspected her siblings being only part silkie are getting in normal feathers. She looks like a fuzz ball though, so I think what I am seeing is the beginning of silkie feathers. Goose does not help, she came at me 3 different times today because I got too close trying to look. I am also taking a closer look at Sprout the black chick of Gryffyns. It's feathers are also suspiciously silkie looking. I dismissed it as being full silkie at hatch due to its toes. On one leg it has the silkie double toe, but not on the other leg. I could very much be wrong though as that can happen in pure silkies. I need to be patient and will know for sure in a few more days. If I lucked out and got 2 pure silkies, one of them being black I am sacrificing my brother to the chicken pullet gods. Not only would they both be Branch babies, the black one would be a black niece to Poppy. Yes, I have everything crossed right now praying it is indeed a pure black silkie pullet. Please, I need this one to be a black silkie pullet.

I figured. Bob would know as well.
That was an oldie car 🥰

BFTP like the car

31 days till I get mine.:love

Yup, a lot of them do. I make my own Greek style yogurt, and drain a lot of whey out of it. It's thick enough to hold a spoon upright... even when you turn the jar upside down.

Lots of uses for the whey too. It's great for making mash for the chickens, and acid loving plants like blueberries love it.
