And Then There Were 6
I have tragic news everyone. We lost Betty today. While free ranging today she fell into the pool. I have no idea how or why. None of the chickens go anywhere near the pool and yet she fell in. Before Mrs BY Bob could get her out she passed away due to hypothermia. The water is still quite cold.
I buried her between the two Blueberry bushes that Hattie bought. I will post a tribute to her later this week but her is the last photo I ever took of her.

Yet another hen lost too soon. Mrs BY Bob is inconsolable. She blames herself of course and Betty was one of her special girls.
I myself feel as though I'm getting numb to the losses. I'm going to try and spend time with everyone who is left tomorrow morning. I need to try to reconnect with them.
Thanks Alex.So sorry to hear about Betty. I have nothing else to say about that at the moment.
I'm very sorry, I just don't know what else to say. MaybeAnd Then There Were 6

to Mrs Bybob and you and take care of one another.
That is correct; asirin is definitely not a good long term solution. But once in awhile on a weekend I think is OK. Once in the past, when I told an Avian Vet, I was giving my hen aspirin, she indicated that was fine, and that it was the original anti-inflammatory drug.Oh, I'm so glad she had a good day!She is such a sweetie.
Maybe you can put her on a regimen of CBD for pain regularly? (I think aspirin long term isn't good for them?
not sure if they have or can have the same issues in their digestive system as humans with non-coated/long-term use of aspirin???
The first couple of times, it did not really seem to help, but I will try again. Fingers crossed!I'm so glad she had a great day. That is wonderful to hear. 81 mg and CBD should do the job. Does it seem to you that the CBD alone is helping. I am going to need to treat Hattie this coming winter. It seemed to help Lilly but I would love a second point of view.
Oh no, Bob! I am so sad and sorry to hear this news. Huge hugs to you and Mrs. BY Bob.And Then There Were 6
