I see them now! Standing on deck, in little raincoats, wind and rain howling. Waves splashing over the side rail “blow ye scurvy storm blow!”Nice here but a storm of wind, those cotton black babies are learning to stand into the wind hahahaha![]()

Mine eat our chives as well. They are quite tasty.Everyone here eats early-season chives, except for Peanut who doesn’t care much for them at any time. Now they prefer the clover over chives, the clover was always good but it must be just perfect now. The chives are getting little flower buds and are probably tasting different now. They are real greens specialists!
Here’s Lil’ Queenie, RIP, enjoying them May 2021.

Same day, this is Butters in front. Queenie’s on the little clump behind her. I encourage any chives as we cook with them too, they self-seed, are easy to grow and to transplant. They like sun and regular moisture and not too much competition with grass. Here they are growing with some daffodils which the chickens should not eat, but they avoid the daffodil leaves anyway. They know what to do!

I know right?! I have to stop myself from eating their grain, growers, chick feed, and high protein feedThat is how I feel about the Nutrena NatureWise feeds. The oregano and other essential oils make them smell SOOOO good.
I have a small box they go in for transports like that, I found a Kleenex box worked great, you can shove the chicksOuting fail (no harm came to anyone):
Its quite warm today but not super hot, figured perfect day to get mama and the chicklets out to see what grass is all about.
It idyllic for the first 10 minutes:

Then chickens do what chickens do and caused chaos. The first one realized that it could fit through the bars with no issues and then the rest proceeded to hop in and out at which point it decides to rain.
We gather up the chicks which made Brownie very mad. She was so disgruntled with our actions she flew at me at one point, but they are all safely back in the tent now.
I tried to explain to her I was helping to ensure one of cats, who was watching this whole affair, didn't decide to snack on one of her chicks but she is still peeved about the whole situation.
Annnddd once again I find myself apologizing to a CHICKEN!!!
Um Jaffar had a hatch day yesterday?! I'm so sorry Jaffar!I would like to letter out a word of appreciation to all of you who had wished Jaffar a happy hatch-Day and attended his partyyesterday. He’s still acting like he’s on cloud nine today. I thank you all.
