An old sheet would probably work. If you have some clamps, clamp it on the fence all around (like a wall tent, sort of)I just got a Frost warning for tonight and my garden is planted. I need to cover everything with something!

That was my thought also - hot.Maybe because she's hot? Her wings are up. Mouth open + thirsty made that noise? It basically sounds normal to me though.

No, NO fan. The point of cover is to create a small micro climate. The ground is thawed (i.e. above freezing) The sheet/blanket, etc will help hold a bit of the warmer air beneath it, it is enough to keep that temp a couple of degrees warmer than the surrounding area, hence frost protection. If you notice when you have a light frost that the open grass gets frosted, but the ground under evergreens isn't? Because the tree canopy helps retain some of the heat from the ground and the day...creating a slightly warmer micro climate. If you have some old sheets they work great, you can drape it across the fencing, a fan blowing the air under the fan will keep the air moving and prevent frost from accumulating.
What is the temperature for you tonight? Calling for -2C here.
This is really crazy weather! I have left the heat on in my office for the Tweens. And am tempted to close the back door of the barn also.

They are good chickens!!! Haha.Love them eating the corn. They seem to be doing so very orderly and nice. Surprised they don't rip it out of your hand, mine would in the general scrum to be sure they got their portion(plus a bit!)!
I would love to be tagged, too. I'm not sure I can keep up with it, but would love to view China through voyeurism!
Tag me too please. I don’t know where in China you will be going but I would be interested in following along and seeing your pictures.

The bird is still here and apparently eating and drinking and sleeping.Oh I was hoping she was less blue,
Ok well hopefully by morning when it's cooler.she should be normal colour.
Actually I am curious to see if in the morning it's normal.
Ok you have a lovely evening.
Oh hey what happened to the little bird?
She probably is hot. And thirsty. She does drink water though.Maybe because she's hot? Her wings are up. Mouth open + thirsty made that noise? It basically sounds normal to me though.

They don't use cover, and frequently do a light mist - with the fan and mist, they induce the water to freeze. As it goes to a 'lower state' it gives off energy. So, inducing 'frost' in abundance actually gives off enough heat to prevent the fruit from actually freezing. (though frost is actually settled frozen water. The fans also help to keep the frozen molecules from settling - but so would a sheet...but in a orchard, it is almost impossible to sheet the trees, so that doesn't work for them - they had to come up with something else. @BY Bob would be much better off covering the garden - it is only supposed to be a light frost here...not sure about there, though. Also proves she isn’t a smuggled bird I have heard.
Sure is a beauty, I hear they live very long lives.
Yes the orchards around here use huge fans to keep the air moving so water droplets cannot settle on the plants surface, this is why last night we didn’t have frost here even though it was cold enough for frost, it was very windy.
You should submit for POW AND Caption contest.Ok now for wee Penne, I have some close ups of her face so we can see her comb or lack there of…
