I asked my uncle which of the plays was his favorite. Hands down, Lear. I really wanted to discuss it with him, but along came Covid, so I didn't visit him. He passed before I could go. He lived to 96, and was sharp as a tack when I called him on his 96th birthday.

I need to read, and re-read The Bard. Project for the coming winter.

If I ever should have a Barred Rock rooster, his name would be Shakespeare.
I was going to name my silkie Roo Shakespeare, but he turned out to be a she so she had to go back to her owner 😢

Revised estimates of the sizes of the tree
I went for a walk and took some pictures of the tree. Not really a very good subject matter for practicing the trick of making landscape pictures. This is very reassuring it is no more than a sapling!

The tree. The Chicken Palace is to the left and my little blue and white sun shade is almost completely obscured by the bowed down branches. I don’t think it is a 100’ tree. I have some of those. This is more like a 70’ tree.

A couple of other picture of the tree as I walked around the sides away from the broken branch.

And finally the branch. It is not a 6’ circumference branch. It is resting on one easily that size but it is more like 2’.
I still hope it doesn’t come crashing down on the Chicken Palace roof in the middle of the night!

And in keeping with me downscaling the tree my tax is a diminutive Piglet.

That is still a very big limb. Here's hoping it lasts the night

It is called a Tulip tree. It actually flowers and the flowers are shaped like tulips but are green and not very showy. Incidentally the Princesses - particularly Bernie and Babs love the fallen petals which are quite large.
Its Latin name is Liriodendron tulipifera and I think it is actually in the Magnolia family.
It is a native to the Northeastern part of the US (and I assume up into Canada too) Liriodendron tulipifera
They also grow large very quickly. They are a great tree if you want shade from a sapling quickly.
