Went out to feed this morning. There was a bird on the other side of the olive trees. Went up to look. Was StormView attachment 3588453View attachment 3588452View attachment 3588454View attachment 3588451View attachment 3588450Final count: 5. 2 black/blue, 1 coco (like whiskey), 1 yellow, and 1 yellow with black head spot ( like Havoc). Went out to the nest. 5 eggs not hatched. Dunno what happened to the other 3, but took the 5 and tucked them under Jessica.

She's sheltering under the olive tree to the left of the pics now. I have a sprinkler tucked under the one above that, so lots of wild water for them.

Honestly I think of you every evening. I don't know how you do it. I only have to count to seven and I still cannot manage it. There is always one (usually Pooh) who either gets counted twice because she runs round to the start of the line, or disappears entirely.

With me its Buttercup - and I always have to think who's missing - oh ya, Buttercup!

I throw down some scratch grain and then start counting hahaha.

Helps to break it into chunks! But last night it was Marty missing! She was in her nest box.

I want to down to 15 - 18 by Autumn (not counting my niece's hens - they are separate from mine).

So I have 13 right now - who do I keep? 5 more at the most.... I have time to decide, and will wait to see who lays what eggs. But hard with the babies as they likely won't lay eggs till Spring

Ebay had been a pain in the rear end to me. I may have to give up and use amazon one day.
What's the customer services like?

From a customer standpoint Amazon is amazing they do not argue they just take it back. Some sellers do have different return rules but they are clearly stated as long as you remember to double check. I have called them a couple of times over the years they are kind helpful and efficient. Rarely is that necessary though as 99% of issues can be resolved easily on their website.

From a sellers point of view though I am sure its similar to eBay where they will almost always side with buyer even when they are being unreasonable.

I do too! I struggle with my 13 when I let them all out, getting them back into the run is always a bit of struggle, especially the teens as the bigs round up fairly quickly (they know the routine) so they are caught between the pushy caretaker (me) and the bigs already in the run who are just waiting to get a peck in. Poor kiddos. Then I do a count multiple times because they are going back and forth between the coop and run.

I have taken most of the litter out of the coop. Still a big pile inder the roosts. I am NOT looking forward to doing work out there. I wish I could do it now while it's only about 85°, but I have a job. So it'll have to be this evening.

I doubt I'll get much accomplished, but I'll try. I hate to admit it, but the husband is generally better with the tools.

I'm glad that I'm not back home. The stupid bugs love me. Its NOT mutual.
It doesn't help that I live on a swamp. Literally. My property was included with a swamp when my parents bought it.

Just passed some chooks on the road. I miss mine so badly. I saw a BR roo, but couldn't tell what the hens were.
Everytime I think of my chooks and everything that could go wrong while I'm away, I get tears in my eyes.
Its suprising. I'm not normally a very emotional person while watching movies or thing about stuff.
