You know - initially it seemed like you had some really good carpentry skills what with everything you've done/built Now, however, I'm not so sure - you can't even build something well enough to keep the chickens out!






So, either 1) you are a TERRIBLE carpenter........OR, 2) secretly you still want the kiddos in visiting, despite your protestations against it.


I'm not really sure which it is, I've seen evidence for either option! Calling the chicks bloody so-and-sos for breaches - yet giving them scratch and lap-naps when they do!

@Ponypoor is terrible at keeping things out. In case you don't remember, she shared a clip with her little chicks climbing up a fence that made the perfect ladder. Now, she has one of those mesh curtains to block bugs out. My chooks open mine all the time. I'm sure she bought it on purpose instead of a screen door.
Not only that, she secretly wants them in, and tries her best to hide it. I get mad at mine, and then give them a neck scratch along with a hug. Try explaining that one to me.
But you forgot #3: She has been lured and hypnotized by her chooks into opening her doors wide.

She is slowly going downhill I think. I had noticed a slight clicking sound from her when I first got her out, and now I see she is gasping when she wakes up, that's the sound. I don't think this is because I aspirated her in giving her drops on the side of her beak, I think I noticed this before doing that, but it's possible. Her crop is smaller so she is taking in the fluid (haven't given her any since 11:30am, to see if she's digesting it), but her breathing is not good and she's weaker.

Well I would keep her warm and safe and if she passes hen it will be safe and secure. Chicks are very fragile and sometimes nothing we do can save them

Pure laziness on my part for not remembering to buy magnets to seal the mesh

I go to town once a week and if I dont get it then so sad too bad!

But I am going to have to put my foot down soon.

But today my foot is driving me nuts so maybe when it’s better…

The yellow jacket sting to my ankle from last week. A delayed histamine reaction.

It burns and itchs - this morning it was just red in a small 1” location now it’s spreading and swollen. Crazy that something so small can cause so much irritation!

I went and got some Claritin and now I have the jitters and feel crappy from that.

We will not have to flip her ourselves. Wait until she dust bathes and flips herself. We just need to be present when she does it so we know which way she landed.

Coco needed a bath. She had sticky feathers up her back, on her neck, and on her legs. So, she had a Calgon moment in the tub. She’s wet now but she’s laying on my chest purring like a kitten. She trusts me a lot. She’s no longer sticky, but all that mud is gone now too. Wow that’s a dirty girl!

We will not have to flip her ourselves. Wait until she dust bathes and flips herself. We just need to be present when she does it so we know which way she landed.

Use a regular coin for flipping maybe?

Checked her again, she was outside the plate with her wing hooked around a leg and everyone else under the plate, so I picked her up briefly, she struggled a little and then s I looked carefully at her she wasn't gasping at all. I would think that with a little exertion she would be gasping for air. So I'm not sure what's going on. Her crop has still some fluid in it. I could give her a few more drops of nutridrench before I have to leave for a last-minute gig that just came up for the 50's-70's band. Thankfully it's a short one, 1 1/2- 2 hours, at a town square. Still I'll be gone 5 1/2 hours. It's breaking my heart and I'm not sure what else I can do.

I would try a few drops and then make sure she is safe and warm.
