We have bugs galore here. Mosquitoes and these filthy fruit flies that don't need fruit too feel invited.

I got 3 of these useless lamps. These bugs prefer yellow lights so what's the point of these money wasting blue lamps

Do you have mosquito mesh, on your windows and doors? They are a staple item in homes here. The screen keeps out all the creepy crawly and flying beasties.

Your ladies look very content, just looks at them doing all those chicken-y things ❤️

Thanks. Day by day its getting better. I just still feel that lost feeling. I just have been feeling awful.
:hugs :hugs Yes you will get better at coping with your grief. It’s extra hard to lose pets close together, you just lost your dog in April. And it’s hard when your empathy (a very good thing to have though) causes you to feel others’ loss too. Crying is not bad, it’s part of how you get through all of this. Feeling lost is not bad either, it’s natural and always feels to me like an in-between thing, for me it’s part of processing grief. Grief is not a one-way street. It goes in cycles, feeling all the ways you do, cycling up and down through it.

So it helps to take extra care of yourself and what you expose yourself to. It can help to go back to some things that are comforting and give you some joy and distraction, from a good book you loved, to comedies (I stop watching any intense or upsetting movies for awhile), your good friends - the ones you are comfortable with and accept you for who you are, and especially by paying extra attention to the pets and animals still in your care, they feel the loss too. :hugs :hugs

I thought I had only 2 chickens (foxy left and Wendy right)

It seems Popcorn and Hazel are laying again, one every few days each. Started again when the cooler weather came in. Besides being older at three years, I’m going to propose Buckeyes do not like the heat, and maybe being older makes them more sensitive to it?
Hattie shows down when it gets real hot. Older hens aren't on this mission to populate the world any longer.

I do see an overall slowing from everyone when it is really hot.

Two of my hens died on Sunday. They were sick for a few days and I couldn't figure out what was wrong. I finally figured out it was Coccidiosis and rushed out to TSC to get Corrid. When I got back, Eclipse was already dead. I gave Frost corrid, but a few hours later i noted her neck was lolled as she was laying down. I picked her up and sat down with her because she was still alive. I started crying and hugging her and she started having death spasms in my arms and died.

They were both super special, but Frost was an awesome guinea. Maybe it's because her mom is my favorite guinea in the world, but I just feel awful. I feel like I let them down.
:hugs

I knew it, I knew it. I told you all as soon as Raven was done rearing her chicks she would throw her hat in to be top hen. She has officially been done being a momma for about 72 hours now. The decision is still not settled but Squirrel has stepped aside and it is down to Raven and Holly. Neither one are currently backing down. This morning when I fed Raven even pecked her chicks. It is so hard watching the drama and not stepping in to break it up. I have to let this play out for the future stability of the flock. I do not have a favorite. I can already see both girls will rule with a Iron beak. Holly if she wins this right now appears she will be more forceful about her position. Raven right now only delivers the beak if someone does not immediately back away from a glare. You have to be quick about getting out of her way though and she is quick to deliver a peck and rarely misses. The boys are also smart and are staying out of this. They initially tried to break up the hen fights, it earned them a thumping from the girls.

I wonder whether Butters will benefit from stool softeners. Could there be something in the gizzard that is persistent? If you do decide to try, you can easily squeeze out the liquid and put it in the tube feeding mix.
I know you used this for Light, to move her crop along?
