can you order online with shipped to you? maybe order a gamebird and mix it with the local grower. 3 scoops 16%/grower + 2 scoops 30% game bird = 21.5%. You can slowly, as the chicks age, move to 4 and 1 which will be approx 19%. Again, slow transition. gradually cut back some on the 30% over a few weeks and increase to 16% (maybe 1/4 of a scoop per week/at a time)

so, given the number of birds you have, order 2 bags of the game bird?

I would love to do that, but no organic game bird to be had here.....got one bag early on - since then it has been 'out of stock' for 3 months. since I feed organic, it's a no go. There is regular game bird crumbles around - just not the organic. And, since I am (hopefully) done with NEW chicks for the season, I'm not going to worry about it anymore this year.

Is there a reason for organic? Are you selling organic certified eggs?

My understanding, but you should definitely check, is that long term the very high protein is not good for them - but that is solved by mixing it with your lower protein grower feed.
I believe a number of BYC folk do that (I have been hanging out on various nutrition threads).

I just want it for the growing kids.

Once everyone starts laying eggs I will see about a more balanced feed.

We still have the frizzle bantam. After this I doubt lety's anxious to loan our roosters. I made the point that she wouldn't loan Cholo so why loan my favorite boys. I picked Blackie from 5 boys so I was super PO'd to lose him. And the son of Big Boy was one of his few offspring that we kept.

And I am sure the people you loaned them to are just devastated also - so sad.

We like mixing all flock and layers because of the high ratio of roosters we keep.

Actually that is what I think I will likely do a mix of layer and grower.

I am so sorry and upset for you for the whole situation. This is why I sell hatching eggs, I would be terrified of something happening to one of my boys.

My fire pit stands empty too. Been too hot to enjoy an evening fire. And the neighbors house that burned down, is still a wreck and mess. Any smoke might panic everyone in the neighborhood.

So crazy this weather, wet here, dry other places - should be dry here this time of year.

The mosquitoes are ferocious here, clouds of them. It’s a sprint to the barn these days, I haven’t been out to do evening chores yet, been watching the movie ‘Angels and Demons’ with Tom Hanks, I hadn’t seen it before.

Had some twists and turns that I suspected but was still a good movie. And now I am off to do my sprint to the barn, and put my babies to bed for the night.
