They will be fine. It is always hard to watch them when momma abandons them - the pitiful peeps and such. The good news is they they are at least somewhat accepted by the flock and will grow into their own just fine.Sad, sad news tonight. Went out to put the chickens up, and Eenie popped up from her spot by the chicks, walked across the coop and settled, nestling firmly in beside Manny and the other hens.
Little Uno and Tres looked so forlorn, chirping at their mama...but then they fluffed their wings and squatted down together. They are 6 weeks, 4 days old now. It's getting down to 60 at night. They'll be okay, won't they?
Here's my chick mugshots...The unfortunately manly Tres.View attachment 3622088

Poor abandoned babies.
She may still tolerate them hanging around her during the day (maybe, maybe not) One of my DCs that tends to hang onto her chicks for a while started sleeping with her flock mates at night, but hung with the chicks during the day for another full week (she finally completely abandon them when they were 2 days shy of 10 weeks old!)
