Such a sad and sudden loss. I hope you take some confort knowing that even if it was too short, Zulu and Nox had the most beautiful free life a chicken can have.

I think social media is rubbish but i’m grateful creating an Instagram account led me to discover poems by Mary Oliver. This quote that is so often used for death, reflects my exact thoughts.

"To live in this world
you must be able
to do three things:
to love what is mortal;
to hold it
against your bones knowing
your own life depends on it;
and, when the time comes to let it go,
to let it go."
For anyone who enjoys words or poetry and don't mind sentimentalism it's worth reading the whole poem, In Blackwater woods.

They recommend acv, so going going to add a tiny drop to their water again.

I will take pictures of Tina later, she's too stressed at the moment and I need to make her comfortable.

Starting to see the comb is getting purple

Her abdomen is swollen so I haven't got much hope this time. @Shadrach explained these little battery girls don't survive for very long. Plus @RoyalChick explained the meaning of that swelling, way back with both Amber and Agatha

Still, if anyone has any advice on how i keep her as comfortable as possible please let me know .

That sounds like it could be internal laying. Hopefully she will stop laying as the days get shorter and can get past this episode. If it is internal laying there is not much you can do but support her. If you had a vet that would give her an implant to stop laying that would help but it seems you have no access to a vet. Keep her comfortable and help her symptoms is all you can do if it is internal laying.

I would trust zero dogs around my chickens. Trained or untrained. The tragic stories are limitless. My opinion of dogs is in the toilet and they have earned it through their behavior. I know I am condemning a whole species but the risk is so high. I almost lost Daisy, the greatest hen ever, and Elphie to an awful dog once. Never again. Indiscriminate killing for fun. Nope. Not coming into my yard.

Good dogs require LOTS of training (both dog and owner), and should still be supervised when in situations where they're facing temptation. Got a long way to go with Sherlock. My goal is to be able to be out working in the yard with him loose and leaving the chickens alone. It is NOT a plan to leave him out all day without us out there too. So far, he likes chasing the deer, a safer option to work on training with.

I would like to find a way to clear her kidneys . Any ideas anyone?

@BY Bob do you know of a way to flush a chickens kidneys?

I do not. I have never flushed a chickens kidneys. Others have posted detox solutions. Perhaps they can chime in.

This morning Tippy was squawking like she was thinking of laying an egg. That’s new, haven’t seen her doing that. I am eggcited to see what she lays, it will be brown as Sophia lays a dark specked egg, really need to get that Hen House B built with nestboxes. Today and tomorrow for that…

Gosh can’t wait to see what they all lay.

Is this electrolyte okay along side the antibiotics? I have the probiotic to

Electrolytes and antibiotics are good together. Definitely give the amoxicillin at this point in case it is salpingitis.

She stayed in the house with me all night. This morning she’s purring away wanting to snuggle up close to me here in the chickens room bed. She even stretched her wing out and covered me with it.

I dont count the seniors, and half my gang is molting, AND why are those young pullets not laying yet? Tippy is 24 weeks and the School Chicks are 21weeks. That’s 7 more chooks that will be laying eggs when they start….

Gosh I wonder what colour egg she will lay? I am thinking light green, I think her egg mum is Whiskers due to her having a beard and muffs
