That is the worst. I'm so sorry that happened to you. :hugs:hugs

We were on vacation once for 2 weeks and sometime while we were away the fridge died. The stench and mold when I opened that fridge door was frightening.

:bow Your Royal Worshipfulness!
You look outstanding. :love:ya

I’m at a Nutcracker musical performance right now. It’s not the ballet, it’s just music. It’s very fancy, so I’m all dressed up in a velvet green dress (yuck, I’ve never liked dresses. T-shirts and jeans for me, thanks) The dress looks like it’s $200, but I got it for $25. I’m not sure if I’ll be on here for a few hours. We’ll just have to see.

BFTP- Willow looking like a Frizzle, with the littles admiring her fluffy plumage. I’m glad that she’s not broody anymore… Well, she might be, because she is always right next to her chicks, and she is giving no signs of laying eggs. The only sign I’ve gotten that she might lay eggs soon is a dream I had last week of dark chocolate brown eggs…

I used to love dressing up and going to fancy balls and such 😊 but now I can’t wear heels, and don’t care if I ever go out again. Can’t stay awake past 9 and just feel like crap if I do try to stay up. Used to be I could stay out till 4am come home do chores and go riding! Or to a horse show 😁

Not any more though.

*No one is harmed in this tale*

Roosters *rolls eyes* so Lore is going through his hormonal idiocy phase. Both he and Story have been fine with the kids and me with zero problems. Till today, when Jax came with me to let the chickens out check water and feed and nab some eggs.

What I did not account for is winter garb specifically winter coat hoods look quite a bit like rooster combs. Lore was quite unhappy and took a run at Jax. Then I had an epiphany and I took the hood off of Jax. At which point he was like “oh it’s you” and went back to acting like normal.

🤦‍♀️ 🤦‍♀️ 🤦‍♀️ really Lore really???

Awlll, they are absolutely adorable 🥰

Diana drew blood today when I had my hands bare and down by the litter trying to get fluffy butt pictures late this afternoon. I'm generally avoiding having my hands bare and near her but she was fast.

It's interesting though, too. She gets herself worked up and gets more anxious and seemingly scared, growling and keening, and then bolder. She sees my hands as some kind of threat when she's like that.

At the same time she is otherwise always near me and interested in what I'm doing, likes to jump on my back, head, etc., I would say she's almost too concentrated on me. She takes food - pellets - and treats from my hands without attacking them. Sometimes she'll peck the back of my hand looking for food, but it's not a real bite like this kind of attack.

Anna is similar in hanging around but calmer and doesn't have this aggressive side. Tedi is around too, calm, cooperative, dominant along with Diana when it comes to food and treats but is more detached about engaging with me than Diana or Anna overall.

What should be my approach with this? I'm thinking now just withdrawing, changing what I'm doing, changing the dynamic. And I can pick her up and hold her and walk around for awhile, once or twice recently it seemed to calm her down and afterwards she let me finish the work I needed to do with wary eyes on my hands but no attacks. (Zip ties on the run, gotta have bare hands. I could have kept her and the other Spuds out of the run too just to do that.) Once I tried just holding her down and I was very sorry I did that, that was not good, it made her more prey-scared and growly. 😥

I also wonder if bringing treats before I try to hang with them might be part of the problem, though I bring three separated bowls she might be getting too excited and her competitive blood going and it spills over afterwards into the attacks on my hands? Thinking cat-psychology here, does it transfer?

Mittens in winter now - she sometimes pecks at them but she's not all wild about it like when my hands are bare. What about the summer though? Lol!
