That second picture is hilarious!
She’s really bad, she will hop in Reenie’s feed bucket if I am not careful! Those Azurs have been such wonderful little birds, they hardly weigh anything but they each have big personalities. I really feel bad I didn’t take the other 3 - I sure hope they got a good home also.

I don’t get my feed at that feed store anymore so it’s not likely that I will ever get that breed again.

Chicken are tough beasts 💕😊

You know, I have not even had a chance to check out the weather forecast, I just got a quick look at temps this morning.

I am struggling here today with chores, my elbow is just aching, I am stiff and have a headache. Not motivated to do anything. It’s 10:30 and I still haven’t finished chores. The chooks are mad at me I won’t let them outside and leave the barn door open, it’s too cold for me to work in here on the Hen House B if it below freezing inside, my battery power tools don’t last long. Not to mention it’s cold on the hands not being able to wear gloves - never ever ever wear gloves when using a circular saw or drill - if the material ever got caught in the rotating parts you will not end up a happy camper! Better to risk a cut than tear a finger off! Ok Safety Talk for the day done 💕

All right my lovely peeps I must get back to work here and just ‘get er done’.

Hahaha they all stampeded when I came out of the feedroom thinking I would let them outside - sorry kiddos 😟

And I love how Marty and Henny are raising those chicks.

Edit - meat??? Gosh, what, she has a side of beef up there?! NEST I meant sheesh!
OMG I didn’t know- but now have an intense visual of why not to wear glove while using a circular saw 😱

@Ponypoor I 2nd the motion on the black. (Personality 1st, then the black). You'll have a REALLY good chance of blue silkies.

Edit: the white, if is white, will get blue also, but if is splash, will be all splash except some of the Marty eggs.
I am leaning towards the black. I think both Roos are quiet they both run together with the hens.

Well white with silkies is from my understanding for the most part dominate white. Even if she uses the white roo with her white hens other colors can pop out that the white is hiding. We do not know the breeding behind her hens. If they came from generations of whites then yes they could be a pure strain of white/dominate white and only give white chicks. You will see this more though with show breeders not your hobby/ backyard flock breeders. Dominate white can also pop up within your black to black breeding as a recessive trait. The flock Branch came from is all black but hatchery stock. It did not survive hatching but in Branch's clutch of eggs there was 1 white chick produced. They have also hatched out 3 more white chicks themselves in 2 years from the parent stock.
I am surprised Betty isn’t showing any spots! Curly is a splash and well who knows with Mr P haha but I am very surprised she has no spots!
