Anyone else ever heard of this: my hen Dakota is out in the yard pulling up grass, and throwing it onto her back while walking around. Has she finally gone crazy?

Sydney was always nest building the year she went broody....if I remember correctly!

My chickens have downtime all day. They don't get why I don't just sit around and dig holes to take dust baths.

Question, So , why don't you just sit around and take dust baths? Heck, I even dig into the mud these days, it's all perfectly normal.
My chickens have taught me well. After all our dinosaurs were here first, let us all learn from them .

Because I've had enough with dust.
I'm fine with the mud, but not when it's chicken poo stuck in between my toes (I love going barefoot).
