While both are commonwealths, there are a couple of states between PA and KY.Just the next state over isn’t it? Kentucky? I don’t have a map in front of me…. And a lovely time of year for a road trip. Not likely any snow…
If you drive overnight they will be quiet.I think I looked at this before - it is only a 12 hour drive. I am always game for an adventure, but 12 hours back with a bunch of Guinea Fowl noisily criticizing my driving may be a bit much!
She is a beautiful Bitsa chicken. Not a mongrel.Um, you won't like my answer - but she is a blue laced mongrel....a very attractive, smart, and food driven one, though. I just love the personalities of my DC - very independent - and her being a cross of that and an EE (sister to Eli, not just hatchmate - though might be half sister - not sure if same DC mom or not) Dad EE has a lot of red and Grey. Eli got the EE fluffy beard/muffs and the mom flecks of gold, Babs got the dad's grey gene, but mom's color pattern.

This is fascinating. Do you know, are frost legbars Dom White? All this talk about colors got be curious about something so I hopped over to a genetics calculator to see what came of it.
Barred markings are fairly dominate over everything. Purebred roos have 2 copies of the barring and will give it to all their offspring.
White comes in 2 types: recessive and dominate. Dom white covers everything.
Which comes out on top? Barring or Dom white?
According to the calculator, you end up with white birds with white barring. The Dom white covers the barring.
Using a barred hen and a Dom white roo gets the same look (white birds), but only the roo offspring carry the barring.
Speculation: maybe get some faint/light barred leaking through?
She was a complete idiot when she got into the net. Running back and forth getting caught up instead of going sideways and getting out. That really need to go in the caption contest - do they accept other pets? It’s chicken related!
You can’t ever call a turtle homeless, can you?![]()
Hi everyone. It's been a rough month with too much work and illness. Am at the tail end of an unknown virus currently. Tested negative for cold and flu. Fortunately we are having a beautiful week so the chooks and pups have been getting more outside time.
I can truly say those are very pretty chickens. I'm sure of it.Penelope
