We need to speak to Management.
Last Wednesday I discovered that my chickens had mites. Poor girls- I check them regularly, but it turns out the mites are not evenly distributed, and so had me fooled. Dottie and Fez were the hardest hit, while Whiskey and Albert had none detectable, for example. I ordered the demiter (elector psp), it arrived a couple of days ago, and today was Bath day! I used a first bucket of warm water to get them waterlogged/bums cleaned, then the second one was the medicated dip.

Enjoy! Soggy chickens galor:View attachment 3850972

Lmao they were so confused. They didn’t even have it in them to be mad at me- they didn’t even complain! Not once! It’s like their brains stalled out and they were just walking around, dripping, going “…what is going on?”.
What is going on? Just like most Californians :lau image.jpg
One word:

By now, Marie might be thinking that I’m arrogant and unfair, putting a family on the street. To protect myself and my pets, I had to remove the trash from the neighborhood. I might even be narcissistic as well, but I have to do what I have to. Extermination of the community cockroaches 🪳.
It’s what it takes to get my point across! I’m tired of the flat tires (pun intended) and the vandalism caused by those that disagree with me. So far now, the whole community has been very cordial towards me, once I have flexed my financial muscles! NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO JUDGE ME!!

You're wrong on my judgement there. Because If people caused me and my neighbours all this unnecessary trouble and i was in your position I would do exactly the same. Just don't use your wealth to bully others

Actually I'm in a difficult situation here right now. But with no one else dealing with this situation I'm not sticking my head on the block . I'm no longer the martyr. People should stand together not ride on everyone else's backs!

I hate seeing people homeless. It's heart breaking, many of them do not deserve that treatment. The problem is sorting out who is who and why there are there in the first place :(

Some people don't deserve homes when the infringe on others in their home lives. Same said for people being responsible for children and animals.

Don't worry Alex, I won't hold back my views with you I've got your back as much as possible, being only an online friend. But i will kick your butt when I feel you are out of order. Same as all my friends or family.

If you were a selfish two faced jerk I'll have no interaction with you whatsoever.

I guess the Jerks are better off when it comes to knowing me 🤣

Thank you everyone for your condolences. And my sympathies to everyone else who lost beloved chickens and other members of their family lately, both human and pets.

Warning - more discussion about Goldy’s death.
I have watched the cam footage of the attack(s) on Goldy several times. I know it is probably wishful thinking, or me seeing what I want to see, but in some ways it almost seems like they knew she was sick and that it was a mercy killing. Only the other hens that I got the same time as her participated, not Speedy or any of the Wyandottes. And they targeted just her head. Although I think I spotted some mounting behavior as well, which I have never seen any of them do before.

Crystal seemed to stop the attacks when Goldy stopped moving. In fact, Scarlett came out of it with some nasty pecks on her comb and some blood on the top of her head. Either from getting caught in the crossfire, or from Crystal pecking her several times when she was still threatening Goldy. But Crystal is also the one who would go back every now and then and grab Goldy by the head, and when that would make her start to struggle a little Crystal would start the attack again.

We laid Goldy to rest today under some trees, with the tip of a branch that had a few leaves on it, and the top portion of some grass that had gone to seed. She loved those seed pods. I kept a few of her ruffled golden tail feathers, and her yellow leg band.

PS @Pastel the Rooster
I wanted to do a simple necropsy on her, to confirm if I was right about the swelling in her abdomen being ascites, and maybe see the cause. I also considered doing a “practice” crop surgery. So that maybe some good could have come from her death. But I didn’t think of it until after I went to bed, and by this morning she was too stiff.
I am so sorry :hugs That is interesting thinking, that the others may have tried to stop her from suffering. I’ve never had to witness my chooks beat each other to death, so I can’t tell you from experience, but that sounds like it could be true.

If I was home when my Ayam Cemani chick died, I would have loved to do a necropsy on her to see if I could figure out how she died. If the last one decides to die, I pray that she does it when I’m home. Or not at all

But I really am very sorry about Goldy - it’s always hard to lose a chook, but when you know that it wasn’t the most peaceful death ever, that just makes it even worse. I’m sending tons of hugs.:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs

I need to check my girls… they had it pretty bad last year but I didn’t have the proper stuff to treat them. Now I do, so when I get back I’ll check all of them.
