Candling an egg: Room without windows (or VERY dim), turn on led flashlight (or flashlight on cell phone). Set egg on light (obviously hold the egg). It will glow. Go practice with the ladies eggs. Airsac is usually at the FAT end of the egg (it's why it's better to store them pointy end down). There's usually a line running across where the airsac is.
And on a fresh egg the air sack is really small I find. Hard to see really.

I have done this, but I incubated them myself until about a week before hatch day.
General consensus for all shipped eggs is to let them rest pointy side down for 24-48 hrs, so that the air cell can settle.
If you are putting them directly under a broody, I would remove all other eggs fake and real and then mark the shipped eggs before popping them under LF and Glynda.

I am glad she is up and about! Brownie was so reluctant to do so and I had to haul her off the nest every so often 🤦‍♀️
I've never done shipped eggs before either, but with both Dawn and Tomatilla I got some eggs from the nest box and popped them under. Apparently Sine was from one of the CR's (he's got CR markings) and Cosine was from Big Buff. Not sure about Tangent, although I think he's from either Sir Cuckoo or Shiva.

Thanks so much. I will practice on the ladies. If the airspace is not in the right place, then what?

Shipped eggs are challenging for sure. I got 24 eggs in total from a well respected breeder and shipper when I got my Orpington’s. Of those 24 only 5 hatched. From what I have read this is fairly typical. The eggs just take a beating in the mail. :( but to get the breeds you want its worth it!

You are looking for saddled air sacks and/or wobbly ones. If the air sack moves around when you tip the egg.

That said honestly in your situation I would not worry about that much since there aren’t any steps you can take without an incubator. I would however be looking for cracks in the eggs when you candle them. Tiny cracks you cant see light up when an egg is candled. If its a small hairline crack you can reinforce by dripping some candle wax on it before giving it to the girls.

I watched more videos about this then I care to disclose when I got my eggs 😂

My suggestion would be to look for cracks and then rest them for a little longer, at least 24 hrs no more then 48 hrs and then go ahead and put them under the girls.

I have read mixed reviews on shipped eggs, some say they get really good results and some 0 results!

I have every faith Bobs eggs got there super fast so should be good ♥️
