Based upon what I'm seeing movement wise in your videos, I do think Versace is female. Undecided on Aster. Now that I've said it....I never considered that. Wouldn't that be lovely
Oh, he's looking good!
Uh-oh on the wattles....or can you keep a roo?Muggy mugs Monday

Suspicious of the grass.
At this age, tail is simply "I'm feeling assertive" and usually leads to the pecking order spats in another couple of weeks. Please be a porcelain lady, Disco Inferno

Looking awfully pink in the comb, and the tail is confusing. I can keep ONE boy unless they're besties and share well...
He'll get there!You noticed that!![]()
Wait...and Aster has 1 black feather.....splash....yellow legs so NOT orpington, sussex, australorp, marans... the yellow legs: leghorns (not sure on some of the hybrids like california whites), wyandotte, Plymouth rocks, Jersey giants, Rhode Islands (there's whites there too)...hmmmm....Not Very Observant.
Ok, now I think I'm pretty good with chickens. I pay attention to them, watch them closely, understand what they are doing and how they work together.
I also think that everyone on this thread is pretty observant as well. However, I have missed something very vital and none of you all have noticed it either. I know I'm ashamed and thinking of turning in my chicken keeper card.
Can any of you figure out what is wrong with Aster? It is fundamental.

Aster is NOT a Lavender Orpington!
This is a Lavender Orpington. This is none other than Hattie at 4 weeks. Aster is 3 weeks old.

Note the dark grey legs and break. And of course please note the......
LAVENDER FEATHERS!!!
How have I missed this? It's embarrassing.
No, I have no idea what kind of chicken she is. I purchased Lavender Orpington eggs. I clearly did not get Lavender Orpington eggs.
I have been so caught up in the excitement of having chicks that i did not think of this until Mrs BY Bob sent me this photo of her singing to Hattie from 6 years ago today.
