Happy pre B-day!My birthday is next Friday! Virgos rule!I've got 21 years on you though. But 40 was one of my best birthdays ever! I got an "I'm not old damit!" tattoo and my husband took me to my favorite restaurant for dinner. Really, the whole year was pretty good! May yours be the same.

At least done enough for now. The ladies are moving in tonight!!! The pop door is still covered, but 2 minutes and a hand saw will finish cutting the hole. The hardware cloth on the windows is only temporary. We are headed an hour away to buy the necessary 4' wide hardware cloth and the trim for outside the windows. We can finish them tomorrow and the run, hopefully. It should be cool enough the next 2-3 days that keeping everyone "cooped up" will be safe!
Enjoy that little space Reds...it's the last day you get!View attachment 3934149
Yeah I'm falling in love with my cochins and crosses. Nyx has the cochin shape and she is just gorgeous. Hubby doesn't want to get more hens so we can keep the cochin roo...but he also didn't tell me no...I should behave hahaIt's a long waiting process breeding to get the desired results but you're young enough to wait on each breeding hatch & what to do w/the extra cockerels.
Personally I love Cochins just as they are. Our 1st two chickens were going to be bantam Cochins but our homeschool friend hatched beautiful partridge Silkie babiess & that was it. We've always had Silkies since then.
The boys have the prettiest plumage & the sweetest cockerel dispositions. It's when hormones kick in that the males & females go a bit nutty.Yeah I'm falling in love with my cochins and crosses. Why does that gorgeous one have to be a boy!? I'm hoping the pale-headed one is a girl so I can at least keep one purebred cochin.
I lady I was acquainted with once told me she was in Sea World and her young daughter who was yelling “mama mama phoque, mama phoque!”I love that age when little kids can speak to me in full sentences.
At Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco, under the docks, my daughter was three years old and yelled in excitement “hey dad, doggies!” She was talking about the sea lions![]()
May be some here in Canada….Good luck finding one in the States!
You have Buff Orps they are big orange fluffy bearsI wonder how many times I'd need to breed back and forth (breed wise, not to direct relatives) a brahma or cochin to get big ol fluffy silkies? Because I don't care about breed purity, I just want a giant teddybird.
But good luck getting them across the border….May be some here in Canada….
