Friendly reminder that I'll be leaving photos of the chickens with a song quote every day. All these songs are old and will give you a wave of nostalgia. These song lyrics I type are songs that pop into my head and perhaps get stuck in my head. I might do this a few times a day, because it is fun. On this Wattle Wednesday, here's Grandma sitting on the floor, her wattles barely showing.
"Oh, I just died in your arms tonight
It must've been something you said
I just died in your arms tonight"

How did you adjust to that? - ?that to adjust you did how
It's like identical mirror human twins ~ a hair parting naturally on the right of one twin parts naturally on the left of the other twin.

That's how left- & right-hand tilted ergonomic mouse mirror each other. If a person uses a right-hand flat mouse there's no learning adjustment as far as clicker or scroll use on a right-handed tilted ergonomic.

If you are right-handed like me & have to use a left-hand ergonomic mouse it was all backwards clicker use for me but I got accustomed to it eventually cuz it was waayyy more comfortable than a flat mouse.

& technology is getting so smart there are ways to re-program mouse clickers & scroll wheels. Some buttons annoyed me so much I had DH totally disable some buttons I didn't want!

I still can’t get over how much different the two roosters act when I am not around near the hens. They go hormonal crazy when I am around, but when I am watching them from inside the house they don’t seem interested in the hens! :old :idunno
Crazy birds.

Note: I have another blue egg from the coop today, yay :wee

I heard that “the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body, so only left handed people are in their right minds” :D

My left handed father in law says that one a lot!
@Sylvester017 that is a cute mouse.
Onto the topic of our off-topic, I use a Steelseries aerox 3 mouse. It's ventilated and very light. Hubby doesn't understand how I can use such a light mouse but it's nice for my carpal tunnel.

Also off topic, I have some fancy glow yarn to make chickens for my nieces...

Butterbirds. I try to catch one a day. They're starting to relax around me but they probably still don't like me much.

Hubby says if it's worms we'll have to do the whole flock and shovel the top layer of muck from the run.
No amt of shovelling will rid them. They are just “there”, the eggs are
Microscopic and you will never get rid of them all.

But yes, rake out the run every couple days in the “non snow weather “, breaking up the ground by raking like that will help get the sunlight into the broke up manure. Help control the eggs. I do this in my paddocks with the horses too, I drag the paddocks with an old gate to break up poops a few times in the summer.

Regular worming will control any parasites, but be aware that those meds need to be rotated to prevent med-resistance in the parasites.

Every so often I do a “herd fecal” where I take a bunch of poops from a bunch of the birds and send it to a lab for testing to see ‘what’s in their droppings’. This gives me an idea of what I need to worm for.

Back in the early summer Petunia was at the Vet for being egg bound and the vet did a fecal she had roundworm, she told me to worm everyone.

This winter I will worm with ivermectin again like I did last year. I use oral ivermectin so it’s a long tedious chore doing this. 😣

With Ivermectin I withhold the eggs for about 2 weeks. There is no set standard here for use of Ivermectin in poultry so I looked to other jurisdictions for their standards.

(In the UK this site states 10 days: https://www.naqua.co.uk/understandi...oultry:,effectively eliminates lice and mites.)

And once the freeze sets in, the parasite load should lessen in the ground. Of course then they will be inside more so more opportunities for reinfecting. Never ending story keeping on top of all this stuff.

Next month my cat needs vax, and the horses get wormed. Oh and they will need their feet trimmed again always something when you have animals.

Thanks. I will try to pick up some today, goat dewormer is the same thing right? Fenbendezole
Yes and likley will be less expensive if it’s a generic variety - Panacur and Safe Guard are brand names they sell around here, not sure of the ‘strength’ you will need to check about that and how much to give.

I am at work so can’t tell you the strength I have on-hand.
