@RoyalChick check out Glytha and Magrat for LACING. Also Violet.
View attachment 3992554Note the black edging around the light color in the center of the feathers.

Partridge (or penciled) markings (partridge on a reddish base color, penciled on a silver base color) are edged in the base color.

View attachment 3992557Gosh Darn It, Primula! HOLD STILL!

View attachment 3992556FINE! I'll go find some if your moulted feathers!

View attachment 3992558The black also rings around the feather, but the edge is the base color. Now, if the edge were the black, this would be double laced due to the multiple rings.
Double Laced Barnevelders are gorgeous & the double lacing is breathtaking. But we never got any large breed birds like Java, Barnevelders, Bielefielders, Jersey Giants or Brahmas, etc. They are gentle giants but not mixed w/Silkies ~ the weight difference between bantams & giants is too drastic for our small backyard flock.

Silver Double Laced Barnevelder.

Just checked out Hoovers and they seem to have made big changes and acquired Privette Rarw Breeds - here is a list of rare breeds on the site

Wonderful assortment! Several Chantecler varieties (not offered here) & I always wanted those gentle Russian Orloffs too. I always wanted a Russian Pavlovskaya as well. My wishlist in the past composed of 100's of chickens.

Pavlovskaya ~ which also came in white

OK - so I have got laced is black on the edges. Of course I still need to write that down. But I can see and understand it which is a start.
And penciled is when the edges are in the background or base color.
So far so good!

But then you tossed in Partridge and threw me for a loop! I thought Partridge was a color! Mind you I had no idea what color, but are you saying Partridge is a specific type of penciling? That may be a more advanced lesson than I am up to!
Very pretty feather by the way.
Partridge is one that messes with people. It is both a color and a pattern (and doesn't occur simultaneously, I think). When it's a pattern, it looks just like penciled except the ground color is red tones.
