I would trust mama Poppet. She is the one in charge anyways!

:hugs
If
Poppet's eggs aren't fertile & past the hatching date will you be able to get the eggs out? Is she sitting on fertile eggs? I mean, our Silkies will go steal/sit on anyone's fresh layed egg & they aren't even fertilized ~ we have no roo

To say I a furious and upset would be an understatement.

I just logged into the cameras to check horses and chooks. Horses ok, but when I checked Mr P and his harem I was furious to see a whole bunch of blood under him where he sits on the roost - and I am fairly confident it would be Betty and/or Laverne picking at his butt feathers

:he:he

Well nothing I can do but sit here and fume - I am stuck here at work until 4. 50 more minutes.

Tomorrow Betty and possibly Laverne will need to go in Hen House A for the day.

Those ladies will drive me nuts!

Cage the troublemakers before the poor baby gets an infection. That looks like a lot of blood. We re-homed our troublemakers. That's gotta be tough feeling helpless away from home :(

I finally got a few answers about why my shoulder is so messed up yesterday. For months now my right shoulder has constantly been hurting. It feels like it is on fire and it travels down to my elbow and if I move my arm the wrong way my finger tips go numb. I cannot lift my arm straight up over my head or reach around to the center of my back with it. I'm also right handed so I want to use this arm for EVERYTHING. I have compensated and used my left arm more, with difficulty on some things. If something happens though that needs a reaction instantly, like say trying to catch something going after my chickens or a chicken. I automatically use my right arm without thinking. 3 times now, 3 times this has left me outside, on my knees doubled over because the pain that follows takes my breath away and lasts for a bit.

My doctor suspects I partially tore one of the ligaments or tendons while taking care of grandma. He has tried to get me a MRI with no success.

I had a appointment for a check up along with Rosie yesterday and I begged him to do something. I told him I kept getting letters saying the MRI was denied. Refer me to someone who could help. He looked at me and asked why had I not gotten the shoulder x-ray yet. What x-ray, no one ordered a x-ray or even mentioned one. He sent me next door for a shoulder x-ray and 10 minutes later came back in with some answers. He told me I have the shoulder of a 75 year old. Uh, what? The x-ray showed major arthritic changes with joint deterioration. To Rosie's delight she also got to watch him give me a shoulder injection. I got a play by play of how big, how far it went in and how much medicine was injected into my shoulder. She was a little miffed at me over making the "I hate needles" crybaby get a flu shot and not tell her until we went back. Shush Rosie, trust me I FEEL this and it hurt like crazy for 2 minutes. Now since I have both the x-ray and the injection my insurance cannot kick on a MRI. With the changes noted there is also a reason for ordering one. I guess constant pain and lack of mobility is not a good enough reason. My other arm is now also started the aching. I can still move it fully but it feels like how my right arm felt at first and I told him. He said it was hopefully bursitis from overcompensating. He is going to try to order the MRI for both shoulders and should not have any trouble getting it done. If there is a issue, I now know quickly come in, get the x-ray and shot on the other side and we are good to go.

I will say it now, the shot hurt, but omg even if it only lasts a few days it will be so worth it. Within 2 hours the burning was gone. I was told to slowly start trying to move it a little, but not to much too fast. I can almost lift the arm straight up now. I stop when I feel the tightening and hint of pain. I still cannot reach around to my back. Now that my attention is not focused on my right arm, unfortunately I now realize just how sore my left shoulder and arm have become.

I was able to do something last night that I have not been able to do in about 11 months. I laid down, fell asleep fast and slept 10 straight hours without out once waking myself up in the middle of the night because I rolled the wrong way. I have not felt this rested in over 2 years.

Honestly if my mind does not change, I'm calling Monday after the holidays are over and seeing if they can go ahead and do the x-ray on the other side along with a injection in it until I can get the MRI. It has been ages since I have been fully pain free so that I have forgotten what it feels like.
So glad you were able to get some relief.

But I am also really jealous! I cannot remembered the last time I had a good nights sleep.

Have to say I am thankful for the cameras in the barn - nothing like watching your chickens and horses sleeping soundly to pass the time…

:gig

Also nothing like being 4,000km away and watching your hen launch herself into the abyss at 2am! That wakes you up fast! ‘You ok Marty?’ I am sure you have all seen that video clip.

But back to my being jealous….. I hear you on the whole rolling over and waking up aching. For me there is nothing to be done, and I have been reassured that it will get worse over time. Gee thanks!

At least I have my chooks to watch sleeping.

:hugs I feel for you too. I’m still waiting for my MRI for my lower back and lung spot. Sometimes I have to sit down after walking short distances. Much to do with the air I breathe in this area. I don’t chase the chooks anymore, but I do have bait and use it to control them.

She will eventually just give up if they don’t hatch.

Someone gave Georgie an egg the other day - think it was Fluffy….

I took that egg away so fast her head was spinning hahaha NO MORE BABIES!

I will be home soon, tomorrow I will put the brats in Hen House A for the day. I don’t want them out with the big boys, they could get injured by them trying to breed them.
