Interesting. I didn't know that Lake effect snow was that harsh...
Those of us in low-lying Calif valleys seldom know what snow is. Unless we're near or in Mountains or High Desert we never see snow. I live in San Gabriel Valley yet so close to the SG mtn range that during frost temps if we get rain it will sprinkle frozen drops that melt as soon as they hit our ground. Neighborhood lawns will look like silver dew while the flakes on the ground melt fast in minutes. Not cold enough to even make one snowball. & if we're not awake in the morning when it happens we'll never see it cuz it melts in 10-15 minutes!

Yes it gets dark here just after 4:30pm, doesn’t get light until after 7:30am. Makes for gloomy days.

And you’re correct! Another month and the daylight hrs will start getting longer.
We are almost at the same parallel. I think you are about an hour north of me pretty much dead on the 45th, we are at 44°3'8" of course we are on the opposite side of the continent 😁

Yes same latitude
44.2337° N

I can’t wait for the daylight hrs to increase!!!

I’d send you some if I could hahaha.

Truth be told, past few yrs have been extremely mild with little snow here, even lake effect snow has been minimal. So the amt they got up at DS & BIL place would have been normal 20yrs ago. Now days large amts of snow is unusual. Even the -30 and -40 temps we used to get are not around anymore.

Not good for the plants and animals that have adapted to this. But for me it’s fine… am I selfish to say this?
