I really wanted to put up a laugh emoji, they look like a gang of thugs 😁

Cute adore thugs, but thugs none the less! 😊
They are thugs and they mob you as soon as they spot you. They want to be first in line for treats. If treats are not being offered they will settle for cuddles. They all like a good crop massage. The two Partridge girls, while they like the crop massage will throw in a peck or two to show their displeasure that I did not come out bearing goodies to eat. It is hoodie season, and they have quickly learned I stash a handful of corn most times in it to treat everyone. George is the worst for trying to bury his head into the pocket to help himself.

Georgie Girl is still broody, but when I drag her out of the nest she will run around and eat etc. then she matches up to me, pecks me in the leg until I pick her up to snuggle. What a brat! She has me well trained.

I really wish she would stop this broody foolishness- she hardly weighs anything to begin with. I am now bringing her into the feedroom for ‘on her own time’ to eat.

Wow spectacular sunset!

That is a Varying Hare not rabbit- and they are HUGE! And good eating 😊 my BIL kept us in these one winter when my sister and he stayed here prior to their new house getting built (30 odd yrs ago…).

They are dark in the summer and white in the winter, very skittish too. Esp this time of year when they turn white but have no snow to camouflage them.

I used to curse them when out riding and they bolt out of the undergrowth like a white flash, scare them crap out of the horse.

I really wish the chooks could see one and try chasing it hahahaha, now that would be hilarious!

Killer bunny tax

Tippy still looking all ratty, but starting to get glossy again.

Really dunno the difference between a rabbit and a hare. It was definitely at least as big as Castor. Surprisingly, Sherlock ignored it (or didn't see it) so I have no idea if he's inclined to chase the hippity-hops. It might be the one I saw the spring before we got Sherlock (brown with one white ear)....but if it is, it's doubled in size.

Need a pic of that! And put it in the caption contest!

It makes me wonder if more Betty x Mr. P eggs were incubated and hatched if they would be similar to George.

I would love to have a Mr P x Marty daughter but I won’t risk getting another Roo

Today hubby and I discussed our brooder setup for spring. I'm thinking I move broody jail up to the porch, cover the mesh sides halfway or more with plastic, line the bottom mesh with a board, and brood them on the porch after the first couple days. They will have the protection and insulation of being next to the house, will be easy to interact with, and when they are a couple weeks old I'll pop them in the brown coop to grow up just like my original 4. Then as soon as they're off heat...I do it again haha. My brooder plate fits 15 standard size chicks at once according to the listing. I might buy another and make a second chick brooding station. We'll have to see.
