Slips but not falls - yet!

And let me tell you the other day I really do not know how I didn’t fall, those brick pavers are slippery when wet, I skidded along a wet section I hadn’t swept yet and both feet were going every which way.

Can you imagine what I would have to say to the doctor in Emerg? How did you break your arm?

I would of course just tell him I slipped on ice! Hahaha
Do walking sticks or quad cane give any kind of balance/stability on slippery surfaces? I never dealt w/snow or ice but we get slippery rain & of course wet poops so all our girls are accustomed to my quad canes when I walk w/one for balance. We got rid of all our slippery uneven grass & laid w/paver stones. At least the pavers keep the ground level for walking during rainy/sloshy days. Even the hens will hop from stone to stone if its raining ~ its a stable surface for them.

No, no, no! You don't want any broken bones! The xtra safety measures are worth whatever it takes to keep from falling!!! I was rushing...and Boom!

I go on Jan 2 for my hospital pre-surgery interview. Getting closer to getting something done w/this arm!

Sorry, forgot to get here on Christmas. Belated merry Christmas!
There's still New Years too! We look forward to the Stealth Bombers that fly over our cottage from the Pasadena New Years Parade. One year THREE of them flew overhead ~ sonic boom!

Last year's parade had the cartoon Robot Chicken in a float ~ Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, the production and animation studio known for the Emmy-winning “Robot Chicken,” and Nouns DAO, an NFT-centric project, are making their Rose Parade debut 2023 (last year).

I couldn't find a still photo of the float but here are some comic characters from Robot Chicken

The laugh icon is for the vision I had of them playing hop-scotch!

The pavers are a great idea to keep your feet out off the dirt.

Canes here come with picks on the bottom for use on snow/ice. The safest thing though is using some sort of ice melt like salt or other substance, we also use sand and gravel as a surface texture to give some grip. I like to use wood shavings as it is non toxic to the grass and environment.

Snow and ice tax

My sister gave me this for Christmas.

Anyone want to hazard a guess as to breeds? 😊

Finally! I am glad you are hopefully going to have some sort of fix.

Have to say I have more of the mad chickens than robot varieties 😉

They thought they were going outside earlier, seems there is still lots of snow on the ground hahaha

Mrs Little Chickie came flying straight at the doorway and at the last moment saw the snow and decided NO! And she flew up onto my shoulder instead, Mr LC wasn’t so lucky, he flew up onto the run fence landing in the evil white stuff on top of the fence hahaha.

Not happy chooks!

Top row I guess...
Buff Brahma, Leghorn, Dark Brahma, not sure, Deleware.
Bottom Row
That funky legged chicken breed, Salmon Favorelle, not sure, Silver spangled hamburg, Black Australop.

Morning, afternoon update.

Turkey is well and running around the coop with Poppet. It is wide open but they are choosing to stay inside. I think it is due to the fact that it has rained steady all day so far. George has no clue he is now the only rooster. He is still taking his job of protecting his silkie siblings and Mrs. E very seriously.

I grieved for Randy last night. I am very sorry how his story ended and I tried with him. I can now thank him. I thank him for being there for the flock to ease their transition. I thank him for saving Spot from the dog attack. Their dynamic changed drastically the last week but until then I thank him for raising George. It really helps to have a older rooster bring up a young one. George really pushed his buttons a few times when he was about 4 months old and Randy never batted a eye. I also thank him for Turkey. He played his part and when Poppet hid to go broody her efforts were not in vain. Poppet is the best little momma hen and is very happy raising her chick.
