She may decide it is okay. I would leave it wrapped and let her get used to the idea that that 'extra stuff' is on her roost. Chickens don't. like change - give her time to adjust and for it to become the 'new normal'. In the meantime - maybe sleeping in teh next box is a better alternative for now.Step one of my arctic plan implemented....
Total fail
I wrapped the bare metal with nice cushioned rug underlay and Sylvie would not set foot on the hot lava I had apparently created. She went back to sleeping in the nest box. I think I will leave her that way until the worst of the arctic blast is over and then she can go back to bare metal roosting if she chooses.
Why don't I learn? I really am not qualified to decide anything for my chickens. They have minds of their own and it is not my place to question their life choices.

Glad Princess is doing well. Be careful, Marie. I'm assuming you were at the vets for Nancy.I'm sorry everyone. I had an accident by falling over outside the vets. I'm a little exhausted to be honest.
Thank you for supporting princess on the youtube![]()

Am I the only one who had a pen for the new arrivals? Though to be fair to everyone else having the barn it was easy.
No blending here! They ignore each otherShe is a good mom. I love the way she adopted you. How does she & chicks blend w/ your regular birds?
That’s been the norm here with my mamas and babies, until the chicks get to the pint were they are almost ready to lay they stay separated. No blending here! They ignore each other
