Rocks are busy laying eggs now too. Yay 😁 :wee not quite as many as before, but still good to see them in lay. IMG_3647.jpeg

Beautiful pic! I never knew Sandhills were found so far north. A little research showed me there are several Sandhill subspecies & I was thinking about the non-migratory species that stay down south year-round. I figure not too much longer & we'll be seeing several bird migrations since we're so close to the Santa Fe Dam Reserve.

Many of my neighbors are non-migratory, some of them barely make it off the couch! Let alone leave the neighborhood. IMG_5164.jpeg

Pony Sunday

We took Eve to get her first puppy yesterday. I think it has been a smashing success. They have been inseparable for 2 days.

Spaniels are so-o-o adorable... kids & puppies together❣️ Somehow I thought it would be chicks though 🤣

We found puppy training classes very useful even if just for the simple forms of walk, sit, stay ~ it's amazing how easy to train puppies at the start. We never realized all the mistakes we made when our DD got her 1st puppy. Nowadays 40 yrs later DD makes sure she goes to dog training w/ each new dog she adopts.

Over here we get them too. The stupid Texas Department of Transportation wanted to build a freeway over the Rio Bosque wetlands the cranes use. They got too much backlash.

Stay, come, sit, down, leave it, drop it, settle/easy, gentle. All good commands to teach just in case.
All great commands. Our most useful training tip was having the pup walk left next to us without it meandering all over the place to suddenly trip over a dog that steps erratically in front of our step. We had Rottweilers & it was crucial not to trip over one of them! Ours trained well enough to walk next to us w/o a leash ~ but in our area it's the law to use leashes but on mtn walks we used no leash.

I have some pictures to share as well as a Spring update!
The snow is starting to melt and Spring, (AKA Mud Season in NH) is starting! My flock are starting to lay a lot more eggs now! I am getting more than a dozen eggs a day so yay! I also did a pre spring clean of the coop! I will be doing a deeper clean when all the snow and ice are gone!
