This picture is just lovely.Hattie has been very active today. The warm weather agrees with her arthritis. With a belly full of blueberries I think these two are getting ready to nap.

Edible flowers, don't you know? Marigolds are tasty too! You must not be a baking aficionadoASTER!!!!!
Last weekend I planted Pansies as spring was officially here.

Every year Phyllis and I would have this thing where I would plant flowers in a square planter in front of the coop and she would pull them out so she could dust bathe in it.
With Phyllis having passed I thought that I would try some pansies in that pot. I had 3 left so in they went.
Well apparently Aster finds them tasty.

Chickens steal from each other ~ so why not steal from us too!?Once In Albis snuck up behind me, jumped up while perfectly squishing in between my arm which was blocking her, grabbed a piece of turkey off my sandwich, fell to the floor, and ran off with the food.
Our Dominique will jump into DH's lap on her own but not me. Yesterday again she didn't want anything to do w/my pets until I stroked her earflap & reached her uneven wattles to massage lightly. She's never stood still for pets from me till now the finicky old lady ~ must be aging, like me...Me too. That and when they let me get very close without taking off. And with no food.
Of course that depends on how many of the chicks are roos? So, the chicken math strikes again.
Now I have the five Rockettes, the other five from pastor, one redheaded sweet lady, and now seven more from Mrs Nacho (lady of Cluckingham court) but she’s not mine and she’s Nachos!
Totaleighteen feathered friends. New record for me. I have never had this many chickens before. This many beloved pets before! I won’t be keeping any more roosters, so the numbers might change in time.
