It's not a super emergency, he's eating and drinking well and I made him a cardboard boot yesterday that worked so well he took off running. I think he will be ok. I followed a search looking for diy splint and it led me here. sorry if I'm off topic
All good, just didn’t want the wee fella to be in pain if we couldn’t help.

We would love to a photo of your chooks, and your diy boot also!

I was attacked again. Mama hen wanted what was in my plate, so she flew across the room and landed on the plate I was holding. I shewed her off, but then she jumped right back up onto it. It was only the scrambled eggs that I made earlier. :idunno
What am I supposed to do? She’s out of control
Mine do that with me all the time if I eat in front of them. They are food habituated so they feel the food should be theirs.

In the avian fractures manual https://theiwrc.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Duerr_Splinting_Manual_2010.pdf they stress to put padding on anything that goes against the foot, then wrap that to the foot or toe. A popsicle stick, or cardboard, or anything, can cut and be abrasive with friction.
Hmmm probably makes it more easily come off though!
