Well it's not that a hardship - the only thing I use my one phone for is an alarm clock and the barn cams.

I can use my laptop to check the cams (and just did now I am up with my rootin tootin RLS right now). I don't get a cell signal here at the house so if anyone wants to reach me they use the land line.

Have to say I have had a cell phone since the late 80's when they first ever came out - very handy when one is out and about! It was just like a regular phone and was plugged into the car's cigarette lighter, and the phone was corded with push buttons. I still have it somewhere.
I held out for quite sometime believe it or not. I did not have a cell until I was in mid 20’s and it was just a simple phone. Texting was not practical then really to many button presses to get the letter you needed 🤣

My mom had one of the first car phones though. It now seems hilarious big chonky thing that had to be professionally installed. It was useful though as she drove ALOT. I do remember the cigarette lighter version!

Edit to add Thirsty Thursday & cell phone tax:

I had a bag phone, in the early 90’s. Could plug in to cigarette lighter to charge. Was about 8”x10”x2” and heavy. And only 30 minutes a month on my plan, so for emergencies only!
