Red bellied racers - Fluffy ate one once, a baby one. Yummy hahaha.

Blue Racers are rare and only found in one location on Pelee Island:

Does Dana suffer an inferiority complex? Or has she also realized the fault of you two thinking that Silkies are chickens, when they obviously are not really chicken?

Dana has always loved her little Silkie sisters... as far back as our old Violet... in fact, Dana w/ her juvenile sisters back in 2017 immediately submitted to Violet as lead hen & always defended Violet from the mean Cuckoo Breda Fowl Char.

Violet was the Doms' little darling ~ darnedest thing to see big juveniles take a Silkie under their protective wings. They submitted willingly to her as top "chicken".

Two Doms are in the sandbox w/ little Violet while the mean Cuckoo Breda is standing outside the sandbox. Violet was always protected by the Doms

Even after 2 Doms passed, Violet continued safely w/ Dana. It was our longest chicken relationship lasting 5 yrs.

Dana was so good w/Violet we added 2 more Silkies (Suzu & Ginny) to the flock.

& now Dana is w/ 5 Silkie "chickens"

What Happened?!

I just found this.....

I gave them a ride back to the coop and tucked them in.

I don't know why this happened as I did not watch roosting tonight. I will have to observe things tomorrow.

That's wonderful. They choose their friends and who knows why but they do indeed choose their friends.

I miscounted yesterday
46 eggs are in the incubators. They are double stacked so I'm manually turning them every so often.
Y'all, Navy is only 5 months old but she is doing her featherduster ancestors proud and staying broody. Tonight is the night the cochins move to the integration pen, and I'll pop her into their coop. If she's still brooding fake eggs in the morning I'll give her some of the silkie eggs. There's just too many and hubby has said "no way" to getting another incubator

In other news, I scrubbed all the feeders, waterers, and bowls, raked the dirt in the runs, and gotten the integration pen ready for the cochins.
Blue and Delft are still alive, eating cat food mixed with a bit of selenium paste and water. The others can see them from the run and they have been talking to them.
Cemani is...hooting. It'll turn into a crow soon.

BlackJack is a very cute boy, he bites though!

I watched a youtube video where the owner said it's a pretty good sign it's a cockerel if he bites. I never had roo's so guess it must be true. My therapist's asst says his MIL's roo not only bites but chases & attacks anyone who gets near him!
