Twister update

My beautiful Twister has passed away, she leaves a huge hole behind as she was quite the character, pecking at my leg for attention, and would hop up on my shoulder while I was working in my office.

Have the old girls pass away is sad, but to have a young hen pass on is just very depressing, she was just 2.5 yrs old and it makes me wonder if those leghorn genes had anything to do with it.

Good bye sweetie

I'm sorry, Kelly ❤️

So sorry Kelly 😞 😔 :hugs:hugs:hugs

It's always a pain in our hearts when these creatures leaves us 💔 😪

She had a beautiful little face 😍 and for the short time she was with you lived a wonderful life because of you ❤️

Thank you Marie, she was a character that’s for sure.

At the moment her sister Flopsy is moulting, it’s her first big moult so she is beside herself with annoyance from the pin feathers on her legs and belly. Walking sideways and walk wards to try to stop them from rubbing together.

The first time I saw this was with Dorothy and her first big moult. She would walk in circles! But had no trouble running if I threw treats down. So I knew it wasn’t a neurological thing. I went to pick her up though and fast found out her issue - her belly was just like a porcupine! And she loved when I smoothed them down and gently massaged them. I would feed her up on a round bale so the others wouldn’t pester her.

Flopsy isn’t so bad, her pin feathers are mixed with regular older feathers so at least she has some protection for the new one coming in.

Everyone here is in some stage of moulting, which is good for the heavy layers. And want them to take a break and build up reserves in calcium.

Not sure the horses are too happy with their stalls full of feathers!

You all know that I run a small yard and gardening business (post retirement) well, it rained hard last night, so no outdoor work on lawn will happen. My first hired guys get shop time cleaning and repairing equipment. Myself🤔 you kidding, I’m spending my time with my beloved feathered family. Later I’ll take my neighbor shopping. She’s too old to drive herself. (This is retirement?)

I might add, that I get to actually see Bob’s lost pets (all beautiful) when at the day that there is no sunset and no dawn. I bet Bob’s Phyllis, and my roo Blu are together watching and waiting for their hoomans to meet them.
Such a beautiful thought. I surely hope so.
