I haven’t a clue about vaccines when it comes to birds. :idunno

There is nothing much out there for backyard flocks, everything is geared towards factory farm poultry.

With them I would say it’s location dependant on what they vaccinate for. I would bet Newcastle is done at most places, likely also infectious bursar and Gamboro.

All the chicks I purchased from Peavey Mart were vaccinated for Mareks, wish all mine were but those hatched here are obviously not. I know that Freys hatchery doesn’t vaccinate anything at all which is annoying.

The amt of money we spend on our flocks, as backyard /small flock owners we should be able to get better care and options for our birds.

Tell Mr Wyandottey that my Curiosity, Tall Tim, and Dusty are all still looking to him for guidance and with admiration here on the west coast. Don’t despair! His time will come.
He is the absolute ruler here at Cluckingham Court. He stops the other roosters from fighting. He’s fast and very strong.

My hen Dakota isn’t well. She stays in a laying box, in the corner. I’m not sure if she is eating or drinking. I’m not sure if she’ll make it either. But I’m praying for her well-being.

I sure hope she is ok, seems we are all having some issues with our feathered friends lately.

I’m sorry, Alex. I hope she pulls through. I’ve had a terrible year with the chickens myself.

Been seeing an interesting article on Polish vs Silkie vaulted skulls.

Unfortunately Facebook reloaded when I went to grab it so I only have these screenshots.
Both skulls can be vulnerable but Silkies have more to worry about. An advantage though is that the larger brain area in the Silkie skull has an enlarged optic area & enlarged sound orientation ~ which is probably a good thing as Silkies have the added ability to move fast out of the way of anything targeting their head:

Harder to hit a moving target
