pffttt, no worries then. Can always afford to lose a couple of kids.:p
🤣. If you only knew. We have 12 kids. His mine and ours. We had one together. Here's what up now with children and grandchildren. A daughter made this cute thing for us.

You need to run an electric wire then like @RoyalChick did. She has had a bear investigate the chicken palace unsuccessfully. Could you repost the pictures and/or video RC?
Thinking that for early Spring maybe that is an idea worth considering. They would not be as determined as they are for honey bee hives, for example, so it could work (electric won't work for bee hives in our area, unless it's dangerously strong).

Bears come by in early spring, so I am debating about waiting on tractoring them around just for that reason, and keeping them close to the house. The tractor is 38 inches x 9 feet, not as much room as they have had this winter with the 6'x9' area plus 12' tractor run. Will they be happy in there, on fresh ground each day and some free range time with me? @RoyalChick 's complex looks so fabulous for a permanent setup!

I have some encouraging melting underway. But alas, it is also snowing! :he
DH just finished snowblowing the drive, we got 6 inches yesterday and another inch this morning. It's 30F so all this precip is snow for us! Skiing was great again this morning, can't complain too much, except the snow piles are getting kinda high, and one is now blocking our view out of the main kitchen window!

Snack Time in the Coop

One of the great side benefits of the coop cam is that it can grab great videos of everyone eating in the coop. This frequently leads to surprises. Here is some video I captured yesterday. Just chickens being chickens but it is fun to peak in on them.

I love their faces just popping up right in the camera.
Smart Phyllis, waiting her turn.
