You could get more chickens, or, you could get a horse or two. They would happily take care of that grass. If I want my lawn mown I am going to need more chickens. Just saying.

This year has been crazy for boys, and I really love the boys, but I can only keep so many. I've been lucky to be able to place extra boys in the past, but, it is hard this year. Everyone is wanting pullets, and its ok when they are still straight run and cannot tell them apart yet if they get a accidental boy. BUT, besides the ones that are a week old, the rest are now able to sex. And I will not lie to someone just to place a extra boy or two. I'm quickly coming to a point I really don't want to reach and that is eating the extra males. I can't do it, its not that I do not eat chicken, it is just that I do not like dark meat or chicken on the bone for that matter. For years it has not agreed with me, and the same goes for mom. My dad, brother and sister all love dark meat, but my sister refuses to eat them. She knows them personally and while she is not the hugest fan of them when they are adults she loves them when they are babies. Rosie loves all types of chicken as well, but she's flat out refused to take any part of eating her "babies" as she calls them so that will leave only my dad and brother. If and when that day comes, she's already told them she's saddling up the horse and leaving on a trail ride until the processing part is over. Frankly it will mean I may not be able to move for a week without being in agony, but I may very well join her for once.I feel like I can relate all too well with your post. My backyard hens have been hatching chicks left and right this year.... and so far the majority of the chicks have turned out to be cockerels![]()
Talking of magpiesThat's about right. I can talk to the other critters but there is no reasoning with a nesting magpie.
I have to share this video again for those who weren't here the first time. You need the sound on.
Kitchen grease fire making bacon one day. Better me get temporarily hurt than my home, being burned down, NO PICTURES, sorryI'm always interested in how the body copes with injuries and heals if you are willing to share Alex. You could put photos in a spoiler so people can skip it if they like.
I think I was away when you injured yourself. What happened? (if you don't mind me asking)
Glad to hear that it is healing nicely though.![]()
