Piscia, Naenae and Tacky were far more interested in attacking my clothes than posing for a photo

Introducing the current residents of Fluffy Butt Acres

As you can see from the front of the coop, we currently have 4 residents. Patsy, Lilly, Hattie & Jabber.

Patsy & Lilly have been here the longest and we ar enot really certain what kind of birds they are but they are likely Black Sex Links. Hattie and Jabber have just joined the flock this summer as they were chicks we got back in April. Here are their individual photos.

Patsy
She is our alpha hen and is extremely friendly. While not a big fan of being picked up she comes right up to you and will talk and visit.

Lilly is currently #2 in the pecking order and intends to stay there. She has become our little enforcer and she defends the flock from such terrors as squirrels, rabbits, doves, and most importantly, ducks.

More to come on our newbies.
lol the first one looks like my hen

Got another surprise egg today!
Unfortunately it looks like someone had to investigate what she did... maybe it was Allele... love the speckles on it!

We have 4 of 7 laying now...and turning 18 weeks on Wednesday!

Also, both Whip and Tacky laid AGAIN today! Eldest kiddo ate Tacky's product. Whip's blue/green accomplishment featured next to egg of mystery...
Normally they eat their eggs due to lack of protein, Luckily mine never found out how to peck it open!

Thanks...mine are brand new to laying, so expect them to investigate a little. We have them on layer feed pellets and they forage all day long. Not thinking it is a protein issue at this time, just them trying to figure out what is going on with their little bodies.
Of course if it isn't just a one off, will address!

What a lovely clip, even the sheep dog is adorable :love
Thank you. I think that was Ruby's last run-around. I'm glad I let her out for a bit. She tired easily, and I took her back to her flock. I had to get to work, anyway. She put herself back to bed with Millie before I left.

I'm working from home the last couple hours and she is in bad shape. She hadn't moved since I left. I made Millie come out for a bit, but when I attempted Ruby, I could tell she was too weak and ended up leaving her. I brought her water and stroked her back, but she wanted to get away from me. She hopped up (18 inches) to the upper coop to do so. Now I feel terrible, because I disturbed her and she's not with her Millie. She's in the upper coop with her face in the corner. I put up a couple little clip fans to make sure the air is moving, as it was in the low 80ºs here today and Ruby does not do well in heat.

The end is near. My poor, sweet Ruby. I hope she isn't suffering too badly.

Okay 👍, if it is protein try mealworms and oyster shells, they also love them

Then the electric cut out. What a crazy day :old:oops:
Yikes! Do you have a generator? Even though this is California, we do get a few sub-freezing days a year and power failures are common. I keep air-activated glove warmers on hand for that, and we finally got a decent generator this year. I won't run the house, but it can run the fridge, an area heater, lights, and electronics. Stay safe!

Jaffar has had a very bad day. Has a cough, sneezing, somehow wrapped his leg up in some discarded fishing line, his bum was covered in 💩 and he was dehydrated. He’s in the chicken room drying off after I bathed him. No cuts or leg damage, I could see. But I gave him vitamin water and canned corn (laced with antibiotics) poor little guy. :(
