Just permethrin 10 and water. Washed him several times, until I found no more bugs
1. Tub of comfortable bath water
2. One unfortunate Cochin rooster
3. Permethrin 10
4. Rubber gloves
Wash, rinse, repeat (picking out every bug I found)
Dry with soft fluffy towel.
Hug your rooster and tell him that you love him!

Ruby was too weak to jump up onto the shelf and too dumb (or uncoordinated? I never saw her try) the ramp, so I lifted her up there. She went to bed in a nest box.

I think she ate some of the mash I made that had aloe detox, nutridrench and buttermilk in it. If she’s back on feed, that will help her gain some strength. I hope I find no maggots in the morning, but will wash and treat her bum again. I think this time I’ll use betadine or chlorhexadine in a large syringe.

Also, Buttercup had a bit of a raw spot (not an actual sore like Ruby) when I cleaned her back end. A couple other girls have full-on turds, though dry ones, dangling back there. Not sure what’s going on, but I will clean and possibly trim them, too.

You’ve just motivated me to catch Snow tomorrow and clean/clip her problem area. It’s so cold and wet here there aren’t many flies but want to be sure.
Sounds like you have expertly exploded onto the scene with Ruby and co and are doing a great job as chicken Mum 💜 sometimes you just can’t get to everything pre-emptively, life is busy and things get missed.

Very sorry, I haven’t been on BYC lately. It’s been a very busy and hot week. Several fires have happened. Even 1/4 of my little Main Street in town, burned down to the ground, (including my friends store, where Emma came from) Difficult times here lately. I will probably never catch up on this thread. :old :th
Oh dear. Stay safe Alex. :hugs

Day 1 of integration is going wonderfully for Blueberry and friends. I put Raven's group in with her about 11 this morning. Then had to leave to do grandma's grocery shopping which took about 5 hours. I just came back in a minute ago from spending about 15 minutes out there with them. Blueberry is on a roosting bar in between Raven and Creamy snuggled up. I came out armed with 2 seeded hamburger buns as treats in order to make friends with her. Those 3 shared the top of a whole bun without any pecking towards each other. I then started scratching and rubbing Raven and Creamy's chest and crop. Blueberry watched me for a minute then stretched her neck out towards me as if asking for her turn. It turns out she enjoys a good crop massage. They are going to stay in that coop for 2 more full days to fully bond with each other before I let them loose again. I also think I can use Raven to my advantage to fully tame Blueberry. Where Raven craves and thrives on attention it will help Blueberry see that I'm good for more then just treats. I may also put Butter in with them for a bit tomorrow, I didn't want to leave her in there today where I would be gone a couple hours incase Butter decided to get annoyed with them. Have absolutely no plans tomorrow except for Blueberry taming.
Looks like Blueberry is learning from the others. Very clever strategy Rebecca!

But , my goodness, 5 hours of shopping! Your Gran sounds high maintenance!😱
