We found a new home for Alba, people we know. We'll be taking him out to his new place. He'll have six hens to watch over and I believe they'll be older so hopefully they can teach him some manners when the hormones kick in. Speaking of which, when do they usually get their rooster behavioral hormones?
Jabber was becoming feisty with humans around 6 months. I witnessed Hattie and Jabberwocky doing the nasty around that time as well.

Well that makes it official. Do you have a plan!
He was supposed to be junior rooster to rusty's senior (and maybe fertilize the eggs of the smaller breed hens as a 13 lb rooster on a 4 lb hen could have been a problem). Now however, flock sentinel. As a gold penciled Hamburg, he's supposed to be a flying little guy. The flight should help against ground predators. As I've lost more birds to them than to aerial (15:1 and 3 to injuries), I think he's got pretty good odds. Just didn't expect a 13 week bird to crow.

Cute little guy, but senior roo is a lot of responsibility at such a young age. We knew he was a roo at 6 weeks. Only one with wattles. Just hope he handles the cold well.

He really is a cute little fellow. I'm glad you had plans for him. Now I get to watch him grow up!

I had plans for Rusty, too, but the dog visit changed that. I think we figured out which dogs too. The empty area (particle board shed + yard light only things there) on the west side of my place had a camper and pickup truck sitting there. One of the kids had a trio of dogs come say hi while walking home from the bus stop. Yesterday morning, had a dog on the patio going for the cat/cat food. Castor bolted, I grabbed the door, dog bolted, went after it, saw another coming off the neighbor's place to the north and watched the first dog trot down my drive/road, cut across a 3rd neighbor's place, then meander back toward the camper. The camper and truck were gone when I got home from work yesterday, but the dog on my patio is the same one the north neighbor saw and thought was feral. How many border collies with bobbed tails are there? Still no proof, but if they're gone, problem should be gone too. Now checking the other side of the Pea tree hedge for the camper before letting out the birds.

It would be good if that was the solution but it truly is frustrating when people don't control their dogs and have no concern for the damage they do.

Truck is back...birds staying in for now

Going to be having a talk with property owner (Not the person in camper) re: that very subject. More dogs after that will involve sheriff's department and/or shoot, shovel, and shut up.

Good luck. Hopefully they are reasonable and respond appropriately.
