I found Phyllis alone on the roost in the run. This is Maleficent's roost for those who remember.

She is back in the big coop.

And there are two other Ancona's who are Fangirls as well! But they are hard to get pictures of. You wouldn't believe the struggle I had to go through to get these.
(Except for the second Cali white picture, I was able to get that one because we were clipping their wings. Flighty things they are.)

I know that Daisy, the greatest hen ever, would love it!

Ruby Check-in

It’s not really an update, as we are pretty status quo. Here is a long (4-minute) video of Ruby getting herself up onto the shelf followed by her jumping up to a roost.

How do I say this . Maybe give Ruby an easier ramp? Or add a few crates for her to jump up on? She’s doing so well, and she’s beautiful

No, I know. I need to make a better ramp. I have already tried having a crate (the pet carrier, actually and she did not utilize it.) The footprint isn’t very large… only 5 x 5 downstairs, and 3 x 5 in each up stairs and the sunroom. Not a ton of floorspace.

I have brought more birds in now. There’s Coco, Shenandoah, BoPeeps, and Arizona and Dakota now. Here’s a pic of mixed up Emily. I’m glad I have a room just for my animal friends! View attachment 2818363

What a cutie. She doesn’t seem Buff Orpington to me, though. Maybe New Hampshire Red?

Sorry I had to stop the joy in this thread, but my little Xzit hurt her foot this afternoon. She scratched up a piece of broken glass and I’m now doing first aid ⛑ (Yes chickens do bleed) but I know what to do!

I hope she is doing better now.

I called my veterinarian, and she will see Xzit at noon tomorrow. The injury is worse than I thought. I cleaned out the wound, and wrapped it up with sterile cotton gauze. The vet is 2 hours away by car. She will be spending the night with me in the house (in the Animal carriage)

I will be praying for both of you tonight.
