I ordered a “winner’s circle” flower wreath for Chaco on Halloween. I hope I gets here on time.

That's the one I had. Doesn't work at all.

A canvas one would be like the winter cover. It would promote algae growth and collect rain water. If I were to do anything it would need to be hard and clear.

Well this is not conventional, but what about something like porch screening? Something fine enough to not get tangled in but let light and rain through? Set above enough that it doesn't get into the water, or does by only an inch or two?

I did the same thing. I now have a long extension cord going to the coop. I will never carry water to mine again like that. It is a lot more work than he thinks. That's at least twice a day. He knows that right?

This. I'm no expert but @RockinFlock consider that the power draw is minimal for a heated waterer or water bowl. Yes in general 200 + feet is a long ways to go for extension cords but that's usually because people want to operate power tools and other heavy-draw devices which would be harmed by the lowered level of electricity provided out there. It goes beyond my full grasp exactly how that works but something on the tool end burns up when there's not enough juice for it to operate normally. I know as a musician we hate low voltage situations that will harm the amps (that's what voltage regulators are for). Anyway I don't think you'll have that problem with a heated waterer, and you could get a nicely insulated one, but definitely have it out of the drafts, etc.

She was such a wonderful chicken. You were blessed to have her live with you.

I'm still beset with how much I miss her voice, her gaze, and particularly her gumption in hanging in with this bunch to get along with them and join the tribe. She was remarkable. Then also whether I could have saved her in time if I'd been more on top of things, more experienced. I hate that I learned the extent of the predator dangers here through her loss. Thanks for the hugs!

Chickens shouldn't need heat in the winter, Bob's are still babies. In winter most only use electricity for heated waterers or lights.

Maybe hang it near her for awhile before putting it on her, if at all, she might be afraid of it! Or is she an ex-racehorse? My aunt had a retired racehorse.
