That looks more like something rubbing up against it to me. It's there a bush or tree nearby that could be rubbing up against it?

I'm not a big egg fan either. Most of the eggs I've collected recently I've cooked and fed back to the chickens.

I was waiting for you to chime in, Shad. I distinctly remember you saying you don’t view chickens as a food source.

I used to feed lots of eggs back to the chickens, but stopped when I learned my flock was fat. Now they are rare treat, or emergency food for a sick bird. We do eat the eggs, but not tons of them. When my son is in town, he eats quite a few. During peak laying season, I tend to give lots away.

The more time they get out of the run the more like a rooster Henry becomes.
Interesting to see he has adopted the herding shuffle much more often. I'll let the others with greater experience chime in, but I'd think if a predator, the scratches wouldn't fall directly in line with the wood grain.
