At least you're not trying to find the muffler bearings. I convinced someone (skeptically) to ask someone else what those were. He (half napping) told her (complete with hand gestures) they go round in the muffler and help stifle the sound. That’s how I pulled it out. From the bottom (and removed the right tire too. Loosened the power steering pump. Removed the ps pulley and all the hoses and tubes in the way. (I thought Halloween was over, but what a nightmare)![]()
Awwww… Volt. Great job, Shad, ridding her of parasites and cleaning her bum. I’m glad she is with her friends and Henry is looking out for her. While I understand it’s highly unlikely, I can’t help but hoping for her recovery.I didn't bring Volt home with me tonight. She is tucked up next to Henry in the coop who was makiing cooing sounds when I stood outside listening. She made her own way into the coop with a bit of guidance. I have done what I can for her. She is mite and lice free with a clean bum. She has eaten a small amount, but best of all she is with her friends. She won't be coming back to the house anymore.View attachment 2895385View attachment 2895386
I sing that to my girls once in awhile.
Love that girl!!Yes. Though I am feeling sanguine about Diana as long as I can make sure she doesn't suffer at the end. She is an amazingly happy chicken. I know that sounds silly but she really is full of joie de vivre - and of course she doesn't know what will likely happen over time. Meanwhile it is hard to imagine a chicken that lives a fuller life. She is always chasing moths and Roadrunners and me for treats. She is just very energetic and into everything (hence my trench digging issues). It is Fall and leaves come down from the sky and when they land she goes and scratches them to pieces. Busy busy!
Storm looks wonderful. On a side note, those are the same barrels I like to use for my tomatoes.
It is lovely. It is a very hard decision to make. I could write pages about why I believe the three day rule is often best for the chicken even if it's hard on the keeper.
However, once a chicken is dead it's all over. You may wonder but what if, but what about all the stress and misery the sick chicken goes through while the well intentioned try to save what is usually a dead chicken walking? The dead don't know or care and the chicken lives on in our memories and that's rather lovely imo.
Well, shoot. I relooked at the photos in this post and agree Volt is unlikely to recover. I’m sorry and sincerely hope she has a few more good days. Does she seem to be enjoying herself when she’s out and about?I didn't bring Volt home with me tonight. Thanks!@ChicoryBlue, you are really good at detailed posts. I tend to be always on the go, rushing around, and don’t give them to proper responses they deserve. However, I want you to know that I do enjoy them.
