I have a family of Falcons that roost in our big cedar just outside our free ranging area. They're kind of small and never mess with our hens. They kill a lot of snakes and rodents so I welcome them. But I always keep an eye out for larger birds of prey.
Lucky you! I only have medium and large raptors (bald eagles, golden eagles, red tail hawks, cooper’s hawks, sharp shinned hawks, great horned owls, and… the number one most prevalent raptor that lives right here and screams its head off daily, the red shouldered hawk.)

380 square feet is the area of my chicken coop. That’s a lot of dusting for parasites!
The laying boxes are 12” x 10” x six of those too. There’s gotta be an easier way! :th
Holy crap, Alex! That sounds more like a barn and is bigger than my entire run. What are the dimensions? My run is 16x18 (ish).

You will probably need to spray instead of dust.

I think my Wolfpack (11 dogs) deter most predators. The red tail hawks will circle sometimes but they never try for our hens.

Shad likes to use a blow torch on the coops for mites....

My next coop is going to be blow torch friendly!
How do you make a wooden coop 'blow-torch friendly'? :idunno🤷‍♀️:idunno

I always wondered about that when @Shadrach said he would blow-torch his. I would be afraid that I would at least singe the coop in order to get rid of the mites....and charred wood, even if so little it is still structurally sound, will absorb any dampness...including ammonia from chicken💩
