Ps: i might not be a good person to listen to as i have 100 birds
Yes, that is important knowledge. I feel like 100 is too many, at least for me. 4 is a lot.

I'm endorsing the opinion of all from back when Maleficent went broody. Perhaps that should be the thread motto?

Yes sir i understand cuz 1000 is too many for mei talk to a Master quail breeder regularly and his +10,000 birds is sure incredible. I think 1000 is too many heartbeats relying on me. Half of my total count is quail though, which is also important information. Only 13 chickens are year round residents. My top breeders carried from last year plus 4 held over from this year. Ive been considering getting another super broody type for helping hatch and raise the hundreds of eggs.
I'm sorry Bob, I don't know your hens names, but does the large black hen door guard at roost time?Nice and Sunny and still Everyone is Huddled Up
We had a masive rainstorm Saturday night that dropped inches of rain. It started during the day on Sat and realy curtailed the girls free ranging. Once the rain was through this morning the sun came out and I thought the girls would be in for a fun day of free ranging. Sunny, 75 degrees (24 C) and lots of wet leaves to dig through. Unfortunately, this how they spent their day, huddled under the trumpet vine. Aurora spent hours just sitting.

Why you might ask? The howling wind. It was actually blowing them around everytime they ventured out of this area of the yard. I shot a short video of bedtime. Aurora certainly and even Mal did not really want to go to bed but it was too difficult to do anything else. Listen to the wind and watch Aurora's sad attempt to stay out. Everyone wound up on the roost about 30 min early tonight.

I would like to post occasionally on your thread if I may?
I probably won't contribute lots, but I'm a sucker for a good chicken story.![]()
I suspect you might have a bigger property than we do.![]()
